Where to buy quality replacement laptop battery?

I have a 4 year old Dell XPS 7390 that needs a new battery. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that Dell sells a replacement so I was forced to buy an aftermarket. Went with CDW thinking they would sell something decent but when I installed it the laptop didn't even recognize it. Any suggestions on where to buy something quality?

imo, the battery option listed at ifixit dot com.

not that they necessarily wiĺl be the best option, but they have a reputation to maintain and hopefully deal with a reputable supplier.

i would not buy any Dell-brand battery from a random seller (unless very reputable) as you won't know how the battery was stored since it left the factory, nor when it was made.

I had a similar issue with a couple of on line vendors, and ended up getting one that worked from the local Microcenter. I took the computer with me and tested the battery by starting the computer in the parking lot before I left.

Laptopbatteryexpress I ordered two through them for both of my Lenovo laptops. Quick service and they offered a higher capacity battery with cells made in Japan.

like phones many batteries are hard to access unlike older laptop batteries!!! your fortunate to have an eze one!!

My laptop has been running a Batteries Plus battery for about three years and it's been as good as the OEM.

Check Partspeople.com if they still have it for your Dell model.

I got really lucky in 2020 and replaced the 2016 Lenovo laptop's battery with a $38 Chinesium one off Amazon.

It's still working fine. Some of them that aren't well made can swell up and cause a fire, but at the time I had stuff that needed done and couldn't afford a new laptop right at the moment.

Just as a general thing, some Dell (and other) laptops are sold where they don't consider the battery to be user serviceable and they'll only provide a complete battery service done by the manufacturer or authorized servicer.

That's pretty much the case for anything from Apple now. Even the Unibody MacBook Pro, which I got replaced with an OEM battery service. I've seen what's under the hood and it's easy with the right tools. Apple won't just sell an OEM battery. They also require that the battery be exchanged, and might deny the service if they find that it was serviced by anyone else (even an OEM salvage battery).

I don't know about Dell, but the general build quality of Lenovo is terrible. After the battery, the keyboard broke and I was disassembling the whole unit to replace the keyboard module. MicroCenter quoted me $150, but I found just the module on ebay from a broken laptop and popped it in for $30.
