Where do deleted comments/topics go?

I realize that a topic that I started went into a tangent with comments that clearly broke forum rules and got the whole topic deleted. Don’t think it had anything to do with anything I posted, but I get it. I certainly didn’t appreciate some of the responses. But what happens to the old posts/topics? Do they go into some purgatory where staff can see them (possibly when it comes to future moderation) or do they just go proof?

Deleted comments are still in the thread, but hidden from public view.

Deleted threads are sent to a sub-forum that only staff can see, so, also, hidden, and we’ve labeled it “quarantine”. We, for many reasons, don’t want to permanently delete the thread, so, it gets moved there.
