i already went to Home Cheapo and lowe's and they only have one style. The kind I want is one that you find in someone's front porch,near the door. Is there a company online that I can order one from and that has a good selection? Thanks

Check out Restoration Hardware, they always have cool things like that.
Make it yourself? We had an old bench that was in pretty bad shape. I made a replacement out of "2 by" lumber using the old one as a pattern. It was a nice little project. Unfortunately, my wife thought the old one would be a nice plant stand (that's it in the background). I can't get rid of the darn thing.
I could build you one but it wouldn't cost less than $350.

I can tell you from experience that the last thing I would want on my porch is a bench!!
I much prefer a porch swing, hanging from the rafters.
I also like those glider benches, steel frame and wood seat, anything that rocks.

Around here we would just visit the Amish and buy a beautiful hand crafted bench/glider. Sure it's probably 400-500 but it's a nice piece of art and incredibly durable.

Did Google stop working for you? I just tried them and found results and pictures for thousands of porch benches in pretty much every price range.

Google doesn't help you much seperating the chaff from the wheat, but people who own the stuff do.
