Where can i get a filter tested?

Not too be picky, but in Grease's test the smallest pore sizes were Tough Guard, Pure one, AC ultraguard, AC duraguard, Baldwin, Amsoil, AC, Extra guard and then Mobil 1.

I'm not sure if Grease is planning to do any more testing.

You can contact Southwest Research Labs in San Antonio Texas. Filter companies use them for independant tests. That's the good news.

The bad news is you're loking at a minimum of $10,000 to do a full filter test. There are various things that the lab can test for. Some full tests cost nearer $50,000. And that is per part number.

What you ask will probably cost you in the neighborhood of $1,000 or better. If all you want is flow and particle count. You will need to buy a minimum of 12 filters for that test. What you will receive is the "average" of the filters tested.

But you can always rely on home testing with home built test equipment...

Thanks for the info guys. Hyundai filters are desined for the 100,000 mile warrenty so i am sure they paied a little attention to filtering and flow.

or they would have alot more rebuilds on there hands ;-) I have a magnetic drain plug, maybe i should invest in a double pass filtration system.

any comments? reccomendations?

You might consider semi-reusable filters systems intended for raceing applications!

Some hyundais have room for larger filters.

List a non-hyundai brand/pn oil filter for your vehicle and maybe we can find a larger filter PN to use in its place.

SDF-20 is the amsoil PN it is about 3/4 larger then OEM.

Hang on to your coglioni, that's a new filter in a triple AutoRX engine with no tach. Give it awhile.

Kinda like when I went to the doctor recently and paid my $30 co-pay for the visit. Then got the insurance bill and the doc charges $360 for the visit...

As long as it's not your money it's cheap.
But they gotta pay for those fancy offices and "test" equipment somehow..

Hey guys. I am trying to get an OEM hyundai filter flow and particle tested. Does anyone know how much this will cost/ where it can be done?

I am building a rather expensive engine and would like to save my investment. I usually go with amsoil filters, but wanted to know if OEM was better suited for my car ( i know alot of honda guys swear by OEM and nothing more)

I will be in the 4k+ RPM's quite often so flow is important to me. But i would also like superior filtering capacity.

I have researched and found aimsoil to have the best 'efficiancy' but am confused what filter to go with.

The filter studies I have seen place Purolator Pure One as the best filtering filter, followed by Mobil 1 filters. I do not recall where the Amsoil filter fell in line.

If you look at the Gary Allen filter test going on now you will see he can not get a Pure One filter to go into bypass at any RPM up to 5500 RPM (running 20w50 oil). The only time it is in bypass is for the first minute or so after a cold startup. His engine runs up to 80 PSI and the differential pressure across the filter is in the 3 to 4 PSI range at all RPMs.

A 3953a filter works fine on your 2.0L. Just find a filter brand of your choice that will cross to this "fram" number.
