When you don't feel like DIY oil changes anymore

I sometimes do my own and sometimes let the dealer do oil changes and other service items. I'm grateful to not have trust issues with shops that I know are capable and willing to take good care of my vehicle as it is their own.

I ended up using Subaru dealer for the subbies. Before even the first oil change with them, they helped out with two small issues at no charge (I did not purchase either vehicle from them) for free as a courtesy, when I first moved to town. They will be rewarded with $2K 60K service next time. So far everything is done right with Subaru branded stuff.

F150 has gone to Walmart locally. Even though they have appointments it takes about 1.5 hrs to get the oil change. This is an older WM that has an older, smaller bay set up. That said the oil change guy seems to be older and takes his time to get everything done right. Waiting area is near non-existent and not near any place to get a drink or while a way the time.

Still learning about this town living thing, but so far I will be loyal to these folks.

At least Lawrence is still relatively small, where having a good reputation is necessary for continued business. Some businesses don't really care about repeat customers, just going for all they can squeeze from each and every customer victim.

I'm 67. Been changing my oil for a looong time. I stay in shape and have no problems doing it. It's the mess and cleanup I don't like. There's a giant oil stain on my asphalt driveway that I'm not sure will ever come out. Anyone ever successfully clean oil on asphalt?
you might want to stain the entire thing so no spot is singled out! it would even become stain-proof!

It may be too obvious to mention but when I do oil changes in my driveway I slide a plastic tarp under the car to catch any drips or splashes. I've also switched from using one of those squarish oil drain containers where one side is a shallow catchment area to just a deep round oil drain tub. The deeper you can fit under there the better. Makes a huge difference in containing splashes.

Recently I discovered oil drain splash pads. How did I not know about these before now? They sit on top of your oil drain pan and keep the draining oil from splashing all over.

Just roll inside the Walmart and grab a drink at the checkout 🤣. Go browse some camping/fishing gear.

Or go to the oil section and take some pics and complain to BITOG how all the oil is going out of stock 🤣.

I take my own drink and am not a Walmart browser too much. I used to go to a wm that had a subway sandwich shop and get a never ending drink while I wait but this wm doesn't do that or a McDonald's inside the store. am on the fence on having wife pick me up or do some nearby shopping. First world problem.
