When you don't feel like DIY oil changes anymore

I've gotten to the age now to source out the oil change intervals to someone younger. I'm lucky I have a great relationship with trust with my local shop close to my house. They do great work and are stand up people.
I purchase my oil and filter always, just have them put it in for $59.

What was your reason for doing your own OCs?
Knowing it was done right, the first time (as I tend to be very picky with how things are completed).
How about you?
I'm surprised your extractor is that much of a hassle. I barely get my hands dirty. I swap the filter every other service.
It really isn't, but this year with the MIL passing away, losing weight (cutting carbs and hitting the gym 5-6 days a week) to fit into a suit I bought 14 year ago, getting married, working full time etc., I've just been feeling spent.
Add to that the constant PNW rainy weather has set in.

But once I crank the engine over with the new oil and hear it purr, it makes the sacrifice worth it.

If I ever become unable to do an OC I have a local trusted shop that can handle it. Also as a second there is a Valvoline lube in the area that has been doing good work on a small truck fleet that I am familiar with.

One of the reasons i put a lift in my garage is because i have always done my own oil changes and im getting too **** old to crawl on my back to do 7 cars.

My local Valvoline shop is great, and the one I tried in Long Island earlier this year is great as well.
They will do oil changes with my oil and filter, they follow a checklist, use a torque wrench for the filter cap and for the drain plug, and are young nice kids.

All in all, I love having the option. It's quick, it's clean, and they so far put up with all my craziness (put the old filter in this here ziplock back, drain the oil in this here oil drain pan so I can bring it back to FCP Euro, etc).

Same thing. I can think of 2 OCs I did not do in all of my vehicles. One was a Toyotacare freeby that just wasn't worth the 2 hour round trip and 1 hour in the waiting area so I didn't do the 2nd one. The second was a dealer freeby on the new 2021 GMC and they put in the wrong oil then tried to backpedal so forgot the second freeby there. Bottom line is nobody cares as much about your cars as you. I had a trusted indie mech in Pa and one here in Az and always did and still do the basic stuff.

I bet you'll have one OC done and will be back to doing your own. Give it a go. ;)

I never feel like it but I’d also never let anyone touch my car for any reason at all period. Other than doing a state inspection because I can’t do that to my own car because it’s illegal but when they do it I’m right there with them. It’s just one of those things I’m particular about.

What to do! That's all I have are German cars.

@Chris142 may not be very fond of Mercedes cars, but I bet he puts just as much care into working on them as any of the others. Right?
Even more care than normal cars, A spark plug that's just ran down is fine in most cars. Gotta use a tq wrench on a German cars plugs . If you don't it's guaranteed to throw a misfire code
