When Short Tripping Adds Up to Full Warm

Just had a thought

I am out this morning in the T-Bird, short tripping. First Grocery Store, then Bank, then Video Store, then Fast Food. All this is about 45 minutes Drive

Now, Short Tripping is supposed to be "Bad" But what are the effects when all the Short Tripping adds up to fully warmed Engine?

Also, does the Heat from when the Car gets shut off go to Oil Viscosity somehow, to affect it towards warmed-up Oil

When the engine reaches operating temperature, it is at operating temperature without regard to how it got there. As for heat in the engine, once the oil and the engine are the same temperature, no additional heat can be transferred to the oil. The remaining heat is dissipated to the environment.

I thought short tripping was driving a short trip and shutting it down before the engine gets up to full operating temperature. Then starting it up again after its cold and doing it cycle all over again.

What the OP is describing is a protracted warm up, not short trip usage. You surely lose something in the intermediate cool off periods, but you're way off of the true cold start floor.

Homer - Your engine in those circumstances is warmed up nicely, and is staying that way.
