I'm now a week or two away from an OC and will do a third Flush cycle at which point i'll remove the valve cover again to examine the internals.)

So that's 3 Amsoil Flush cycles in about 8 months and 15,000 miles worth. Let's see... I'll make a thread about it once the pics are ready.

Sorry to thread jack.

Dude, when you're coming through Atlanta next time, let me know: I need to borrow your ability to use a torque wrench/feel for removing these finicky valve cover bolts on my '92, I want to get some pics of my valve train area too!

I'm actually going to be driving through Atlanta this upcoming Monday / Tuesday. Lets set something up. I'd love to see the Civic and help you remove the valve cover

This is a car that i've had since new in 97 and has had 3-5k mile oil changes with Mobil 1 since new. It is a known sludger engine so i'm not surprised by the minor varnish build up in certain areas of the head.

Like i said, before and after pics coming soon and we'll see what 4 doses of Amsoil Engine Flush and running Amsoil synthetic oil with 5k OCIs has achieved.

That's a pretty even coat of varnish, and just a little bit of sludge. But those cam lobes look beatiful! Our RP advocates/M1 critics should look at that.

I am a Royal Purple fan (not an M1 fan but not a hater either...just not my cup'o'tea), and I am not sure what I should be looking at? That's what the inside of my engine looked like with the VC removed BEFORE I started using RP/RL exclusively...

However, I own a '00 Camry (4cyl AT), and have been on ToyotaNation for years (rarely post), so I know how bad those engines (both the 4 and 6 cyl) are in regards to sludging. I am fighting a constant battle with mine, at 180k miles or so, and have used pretty much all the big name synthetics without significant results (RL/RP is too expensive for that car; I save it for my Bimmers). I am at the point where I may start adding MMO to the crankcase, which will be a first as I have only ever used it in fuel before. The Camry HAS had Seafoam treatments, but only through brake booster, PCV inlet, throttle body, and fuel, never directly into the oil (done at maybe 75k, 110k, 145k, 175k). Also, it has had Techron Concentrate every 1k miles, RL SI-1 when I feel like it (maybe every 6k avg), and anytime a FI cleaner is B1G1 I buy them and use 'em in the car as it gets whatever gas is convenient.
But, I hope maybe 3 treatments of MMO (15%, 20%, 25%) followed by Seafoam in the crankcase will get things cleaned up fairly well. Car will need new spark plugs at 200k so I want to get it done before.then.

Sorry for rambling.
Would Pennzoil Platinum be a good synthetic for use with MMO? Idk much about the latter, so I defer to the.more knowledgeable...

Thanks!
