What's your excuse for ...

I change the oil in my truck, as well as my brother, and step dads cars. The reason I dont change the oil in my wifes Sentra is because of the position and place that the elastic man of an engineer that designed this engine/car decided to put the oil filter. I dont have a lift to work with and I have tried with ramps, no dice. I bring it to a shop two streets over and they let me supervise and walk around an check out the undercarraige of the car.

My local mechanic charges me $15 ( was $10). i bring in my schaeffers a napa gold filter and uoa kit. In/out in 15 minutes.

Now that he offers a 7000 mile Schaeffers oil change hope he doesn't cut me out.

We have no garage at the moment.
I like to have a garage over my head before I take things apart - and my driveway is insanely narrow due to the age of the house (100) as it was built for a horse and carriage.

I WOULD be doing all those things on my car if it weren't for that.
We plan on building a garage this year, so that will change.

no garage. i work at a shop, so i have another tech do it for me, against our company rules to work on your own car. i carry in my own oil and filter, and its 13 something total. theres no worry about disposal either. plus i can inspect everything under the car. that being said, im gonna pull the coilovers out of my car tomorrow at home and rebuild them again.

The same excuse I gave my drill sergeant in the Army when I would drop my rifle:

NO EXCUSE DRILL SERGEANT!!

$24.95 for a Exxon SuperFlo/OEM filter change at the Suabru dealer in less than 40mins or next is free. Wireless Internet in comfy waiting room that allows me to remain billable for the wait time.

No excuses. No garage. Outside on the concrete regardless of temp, ice, or snow.

It helps to make sure your oil changes do not happen during Jan/Feb, but some times things just don't work out.

Changed the oil on my friends sentra, i'll never do it again after it turned into a 5 minute struggle with the filter and a ruined shirt.

I'll change them on a mild day in early December so that doesn't happen.

Brogy. Time to man up.

The 96B14 is a pain to change the filter but even with the shoulders of an 90 year old I manage somehow. After messing up the first shirt I just kept it around for later changes. I have also gained an appreciation of oil taste testing every time the filter comes out.

Tastes like chicken

Sometimes it's easier in January. All the water is frozen and you don't get the 'cold-wet' on you.

been lazy+not very handy+not having enough car related knowledge+not wanting to get dirty+affraid i will mess up smth+affraid been underneath the car+small garage. but i do it now anyway. don't like to overpay and being taken advantage of by greedy mechanics and their quality lacking workmanship.
