This is not something totally new that hasn't been discussed, but it ****** me off so much I have to vent; This happened yesterday:

I am driving, minding my own business at around 60 mph (55 limit) on the slow lane
Mustang comes up behind me, getting REALLY close to my bumper, although the fast lane is completely free and he could have easily passed me.
Afraid that he would actually hit me, i get over to the fast lane, and the mustang ROARS past me on the slow lane cuts in WILDLY in front of me into the fast lane...but he slows down immediately after doing that.
Meanwhile I can see the occupants: all young, 2 guys in front, 1 girl in the back - they're wildly headbanging or doing some other stuff judging by how hyper they are.
Then the mustang suddenly decides to get back to the slow lane, and I stay in left (fast) lane because my left turn (branch-off) is coming up soon.
The mustang is riding parallel now and I can see them all looking at me.
I control myself and do not look at them, almost amused now, keeping my eyes on the road.
Now some other car turns on to the road, onto the slow (right) lane where the Mustang is, and the driver suddenly tries to accelerate as If i was racing with him, trying to cut in front of me (trying to cut in between my car and the new car ahead of them that hadn't picked up much speed still)
I still maintain my normal speed, and the Mustang is somehow not able to squeeze in between my car and the new car, I see them brake hard, and all of them flipping me (or the other driver, or both) off.
I pass the new car, (which is still kinda slow) and as soon as there's enough gap, the Mustang, again ROARS coming up behind me, passes the new car, gets on MY right side (on the slow lane now, and in front of new car) and then cuts dangerously in front of me AGAIN (while giving me the finger - all 3 of them), but realizes my lane is branching off, and DANGEROUSLY gets back into the other lane, JUST before they hit the concrete median in the middle (yelling something and still flipping me off).

What's wrong with [censored] like this? what are they trying to achieve? In a way, if this is how they get their kicks, it's sad, very sad.
Did the Tbird I was driving annoy them (some people think it's a Mustang rival? not me.), or did they just pick me because I was the nearest one?
As much as i was angry, by the time they barely missed that median, I was laughing pretty hard, especially thinking of the fact that I didn't do a [censored] thing to provoke them and they acted like i was trying to street race them or whatever...

oh and I am pretty sure it was a v6 Mustang.

**** happens, man. A lady got RIGHT on my tail last week crossing the bridge, most likely not realizing the left-most lane was a left-exit-only. She was paying so much attention the fact that I was holding up "her" fast lane, that she nearly exited with me, having to veer across last minute to get back on I-95. Almost every day there's a cop that sits on that end of the bridge...but not that day.

sometimes i think if we could understand why some people do the things they do , then we would be as screwed up as they are. I don't try to understand some of the crazy things people do.

A friend of mine just told me a story about driving his friend's Mini Cooper. A few guys rolled up next to him in a G37 to yell "nice car," followed by an epithet referring to the gender of person with whom they thought he might prefer to spend time in private. Totally out of nowhere.

If you think about the sheer number of drivers you encounter on a daily basis, you've gotta figure even really odd stuff like this is bound to happen once in a blue moon.

Either drugs or alcohol. School is out, kids have nothing else to do and all they do now are getting into trouble.

This is one of many reasons I never leave my house without my sidearm on my side. Not only is it perfect protection but also excellent anger managment.

The idiots are everywhere.

Next time call your local state police number(program it in your cell) and give them a description and license number. There is a good possibility they or a local city unit might be nearby and can investigate their aggressive driving.

Crazy people out there.

Check this.....I'm heading South on major local freeway, heavy afternoon rush hour traffic. Everybody pretty much doing the @75 mph thing with the inevitable occasional brake taps. Anyway, I see a white F-150 in my rear view, he's doing the usual numb nut, hop scotch from lane to lane to get a three length advantage in heavy traffic....totally pointless. He's fully unloaded, not a thing in the truck, and doing these flick of the wrist quick lane changes as he fills two and three and four car length spots to do his thing.

Just as he gets off my right hand side, I'm now in the middle lane of a three lane highway. Well, he cuts his wheel and does another lane change to come up behind me with an eye to get all the way left, he cut so sharp and quick his tail end comes out on him. I'm wathing him in my mirror as he turns against the slide and runs right into the center median head first. DE style. Bam......No more traffic jam, well for those of us right ahead of him.....What a mess.

All in the stupid attempt to get there 28.3 seconds ahead of the next guy. I dont get it. I love speed and fast cars, but theres a time and a place.

97tbird,

Thats your typical driver in south FL. I drive on toll roads just to avoid I-95 which is pure [censored] down here. I hate people who hog the fast lane and seem to drive the same speed as the car beside them and block both lanes of traffic.

Thanks for the comments:

on a totally random thing: i just saw that gathermewool's post was edited for "bypassing the censor". I think it should be done as putting ***** or whatever, but I don't think the mod(s) should be able to SUBSTITUTE words of their OWN choice. If gathermewool is not allowed to say what he wrote, then just take it off - you can't choose terms for him.

That would never work in a million years in Miami-Fort Lauderdale...Besides what LT4 Vette said there are only [the bulk of the time] 2 Leo's to work all the interstates in each county down here...Most times I barely see a Leo in a 50 mile run...If I do see them they are busy working accidents so it's a waste of time to call them plus there are on and off exit ramps almost every mile.

So you are gonna wave a gun from your vehicle?

Indeed, same here in CO. I had some numb nutz try and road rage me a few months back to the point he rocketed in front of me and brake checked me to where my brakes locked up. Luckily I was coming home from storm chasing and had my video camera with me - I stuck it back on my windshield mount as he continued swerving and brake checking me. Soooooooo, I gently swerved over, passed him, and videotaped him as I waved (after capturing his reckless driving along with his tags). Made a DVD of it, dropped it off at the police station, got a call back 2 days later from an officer saying he was ticketed for reckless driving and that he had a history of doing this. Was also thanked!

lately, I've been carrying my cameras with me a lot more - this type of behavior is becoming increasingly common.

Then you should prob PM the mod.

Do that and we will have a conversion that is not off topic in this thread.

Same with the person who was bypassing the censor which is against the rules. PM me.

Any more comments OFF TOPIC in this thread will get this locked/posts removed.

Take a ride down to Castor and Delaware Ave in Philly Fri and Sat nights. Flatulance cannon city as they tie it up drag racing. Around Castor and Arimingo can't even get into the BP station. Full of Fast and Furious wannabes doing burnouts on side streets.

One cop shows and they scatter like birdshot. On both sides of the road.

I guess someone will have to get killed before they do something.

There is a real simple way to avoid any problems associated with bypassing the censor. Don't do it.
