I've been noticing these vehicles (mostly SUVs) that now have these lights above the headlights that look like mad eyebrows...is that so drivers can tell they're being tailgated by an irate driver after dark?

They've run out of styling ideas.

I also don't like the swoopy-squinty headlights of the mid 2000's. They try and drag the outer corner up the fender almost all the way to the windscreen. Chevy Spork is a good example.

About the only cool treatment is the halo/ round thing Dodge Chargers and some BMWs carry. Celebrates when headlights used to be... round.

It's called monkey see, monkey do styling. If you don't have these eyebrow lights on your current ride you'll just have to get by some how until you can stop suffering the embarrassment and upgrade on your next ride.

Those things look like those ghetto fabulous light kits you could buy at the flea markets years ago.

Started with BMW angel eyes, I think. Then Audi came up with their angry looking cars. The rest are trying to copy those two guys, usually unsuccessfully.

Eyeliner? Such hip/hop/flip/flop non-sense. I recall when I first saw this on an Audi. The chick-a-facation of cars? To me, it just looked ridiculous, esp. on a sports car.

Copy, copy, copy.....same with the raptor-style light hoods.

the really silly ones are the plastic eyelashes stuck on above the headlights.always driven by a black woman around here...

Exactly. You could say the same for the high belt line that makes sitting in modern vehicles like sitting in a gun turret. I hate high belt lines.

Those are cool ... the same 3 hash marks that were in the sheet metal of the 1965 Mustang.

I like the puddle lights they use on the Mustang and Lincolns.

How about doing something useful with vehicles, like make them so they get 100 MPG?

They still need to make them look cool, even if they get 100 MPG. They are forced to continually strive for higher MPG performance.

Are mad eyebrow lights supposed to be "cool?"

Apparently people think so at this time in car styling. Styling is continually changing.

Who knows, someday the fake wood sided gigantic station wagon from the movie "Vacation" might be the rage. LoL

To a dgree I think it's a form follows functiom thing. These lights are often a single line of LEDs, and the arrangement in form of a line is fairly easy to implement.
