Hello all!

Kinda new here, been playing around on the Purolator and Havoline websites... I know Puro makes Havoline filters. When I type my application in the Havoline site ('07 F-150 5.4) the filter comes up as T-36, which says use until inventory is depleted and then use the T-67. I crossed referenced this on the Puro site and got L24651 to L22500. There's no mention of the L22500 anywhere on the Puro site? Just wondering if it's possible to play around with filters like this? Don't want to hurt my engine for the price of an oil filter. What would be the benefit of switching filters? The L22500 seems longer and narrower. Would it have more filtering media?

I'm confused...

This is where crossref'ing filters from brand to brand can get dangerous ...

Looking at the Wix site, there is major difference in the bypass relief pressure between the 51372 and the 57502 equivilants of your stated filters. (23 psi vs 8 psi). The Beta data is different as well, but I'm not sure the 51372 just hasn't been "whitewashed" into the now-common 6/20 format yet ...

The Wix site specifically states to use the 51372 for the mod-motors in your application.
The Purolator site specifically states to use the L24651.
The Fram site shows the PH2, DG2, TG2 series.

Where the L22500 filter came from is a bit perplexing; I've not see that equivilant before. I see where the Havoline site does have the confusing contradictions. The Wix site shows the T-36 equivilant as the 51372 (which has been their filter for the mod-motor for two decades), but it does not even recognize the T67 filter.

Havoline filters are just rebranded Puros, as you're aware. I'd use the Puro references.

If you want a Purolator, then go right to their site for their direct recommendation via the vehicle description; don't x-ref via three different brands. Want a wix? Use the wix site. Want a Fram? Use their site. But use them for the application as your first line of defense. I reasonably trust the major makers to give decent data, but once you start getting into re-branded products, data can be inadvertantly lost or jumbled.

Did a little research on the OP's difference question and came up with a possible answer regarding Havoline's apparent move to the T67 in the future. It appears that Havoline is trying to consolidate applications from the T36 to T67, according the Fram site their gasket size is very similar. The T67(L22500/Fram 10575) Xrefs both on the Puro and the Fram site shows that it is for newer model FoMoCo products 2011-2013 F150-350 and other newer Fords. According the Fram site it crosses to the Motorcraft FL500S. Consolidation seems now to be a common practice with the 'made for' filters like Havoline.

The 07 F150 5.4 calls for the Motorcraft F820S which crosses to the T-36/L24651/PH2(Fram). That is filter size I would use, I wouldn't chase Havoline filter T67 just because Havoline wants to consolidate some applications. And while the Havoline may be a fair low end filter, it's doubtful it comes up to the specs of a the Classic the spec'd L24651 or the even spec'd Motorcraft FL820S.

Lastly, with the spec'd Motorcraft FL820S generally readily available at either Wally, Advance perhaps AZ or even the dealer for a very reasonable price, it would be my first choice for your vehicle. But, thats just me.

Exactly ... see what each filter manufacturer calls out. They are the best ones to know which model of their own filter fits what vehicle. Then if interested, you can cross-reference those to see if they still give the same answer.
