What's left as used RWD compacts?

It isn't a problem when you factor in that a Z28/TA is like driving a boat compared to the S2000. 500 lbs. difference is very substantial.

But not when the LS1 is a Corvette.

But that wasn't my point, he said good gas mileage. The S2000 gets pooh gas mileage for a 4cyl, maybe 2 more when city and highway driving are averaged.

Haha. Which makes the weight difference even more of a shame for the 4 cyl. not to be quite better on mpg? I think so.

Not knocking on the S2000 because it isn't a bad car at all.

And if we're leaving the fuel economy convo and going to handling, better handling only helps so much if you get blasted in the straightaways...

Idk...this could be argued forever so no big deal.
He was talking about a Vette...so end of discussing for us. Lol

22-24mpg in the city and 28-30 on the highway on a motor that revs 3,000 rpms higher than an LS1 is "pooh gas mileage"? I disagree.

Also, what difference would it make if the LS1 was from a Corvette? Same exact motor. So you save 100lbs. over the fbody but you're still 400lbs. heavier than the S2000.

The S2000 revs to 9,000 rpms and doesn't really start making peak power until 5,500. The LS1 revs to 6,000 max. The S2000 is 2.0L. The LS1 is 5.7L. While the S2000 is around 4,000 rpms on the higway at 90mph the LS1 is sittin at 2,200. It's pretty obvious why the S2000, despite being a four cylinder, doesn't get upwards of 30mpg. If you keep it under 60mph on the freeway it will generate 30-34mpg but where is the fun in that?

With regards to handling the S2000 is built on a true x-bone racing monocoque which is the largest contributor to its weight issue. But it's worth it considering the body is more rigid as a convertible than the majority of fixed roof coupes on the market.

Lastly, he wasn't talking about a Vette originally. You can see in his signature that he was referring to his WS6. Notice how he said "my LS1".

Regardless, they are all awesome cars in their own right. I owned a 2002 Z28 for about 15k miles and then sold it for a 2003 S2000 that I owned for nearly 40k. Two totally different cars with different missions. The torque from the LS1 always put a smile on my face but the spongy suspension and body roll from the fbody got old after awhile, and that was even after I added a Hotchkis panhard rod and LCA's.
