I'm not sure if what you say about "Mobil 1 40" is true, but one other 40 wt. "synthetic" that WM sells is Shell Rotella T 5w40. This is a hydro-cracked GRP III oil. Take that for what it's worth.

what kind of application is this? that will help with answers. does it need to meet a certain spec?

edit: i missed the walmart part. the easiest for availability is the rotella syn 5w40. the M1 T&SUV seems to be hard to get, but that may not be all areas.

it's a Saab 2.3 NA.. and its lifters don't like 30 weight

Yes, Synpower 5w40 looks good on paper. Seems it still has SL additive levels, last I looked at the product data. And it meets ACEA A3.

I ended up taking my elevator down 200 Feet into my vault and pulling GC green off the shelf and also put a WIX filter on it. Hey, it's a thick 30 atleast!

Is it true Mobil 1 T&SUV is the same oil as Delvac Syn?

I did a search: some say yes.....others say no.

Well, there is always 0w-40 M1. 10w-40 dino might not be too bad either. Clean 7500 10w-40...nothing wrong with that. Another consideration is 5w30 HM oils like GTX, 12cSt with 5w CC is a good product. Since you car is NA, I'd say be more flexible. Even ST Synth 10w30 HM is worth a shot, I thought it worked good...A3-rated. When summer comes, synth oil is a waste of money when you could use a 15w40 HDEO.

i did some research about BC and it concluded that it is a group III but it carries a number of euro specs so it shouldnt be bad mouthed too much.

Rotella t 5w-40 synthetic is a fantastic product that just happens to be available at wal-mart. The hths is higher than any other 40 weight oil (4.1)and the kinetic viscosity is a bit better at 100c(15.0). A number of Porsche enthusiasts on the Porsche forum I frequent use this product with fantastic results. This oil is top certified for gasoline and deisel engines. Although this product is a group III oil, it outperforms othergroup 4's without breaking a sweat due to it's high flashpoint (176c). This group III oil is also composed of the exact same Shell synthetic formula HXVI base stock they use for new Ferrari engines as well as Ferrari's formula 1 engines. If it is good enough for 20,000 rpm's, it is certainly good enough for anything.
