I can pick up a 2008 CHRYSLER Town and Country minivan for maybe less than $1000.
I essence i am making a woman a title loan which she claims will probably not be able to pay back. if she does interest will be 10% for just a few weeks. The body has a few dings, not major, the engine has misfire codes, needs plugs, which i will install in the next couple of days. The thought of no payment and only liability insurance is very appealing.

For the price, it's worth a gamble and a little elbow grease. Me? I'd stick a hand held vacuum gauge on it and see if there's anything wrong mechanically first.

So why doesn't she just sell it? Probably because she couldn't get even $800 for it. Have you driven it? My guess is the transmission will be failing soon.

I have driven the van, balance owed is now $1000, needs plugs, but drives well no transmission issues. Brakes feel a little spongey, but do stop ok, she can not sell it outright as of today, she is waiting for a settlement check due in about 3 weeks. I AGREE that Chrysler had a bad rep on trannies, but this one drives and shifts fine. This model was well equipped back then, sat radio, claims to be a hard drive in the beast 3800 engine etc

Check the spring mount points for rust. If the frame rails are super rusty, pass on this purchase.
Also check all the windows for up / down movement. Some year Chrysler mini vans ate window regulators.
