Does anyone else wax their alloy rims?
I use some turtle wax that I hate using on any cars. Too hard to come off but it's easy on the rims.
Keeps the rims cleaner. I am surprised how clean the wheels are on my car.

If by alloy rims you mean polished aluminum? I think that's the same thing. But anyways I do use wax occassionally on my rims. But usually I just use water to keep the brake dust off. I try to do it once a week but that hardly ever happens. It keeps the brake dust from embedding itself in my rims.

A sealant would be a better choice in general. As far as a true wax is concerned then any of the choices from Collinite would be smart. They are extremely long lasting (technically a sealant) and work just as well on the painted surfaces. Assuming you apply them THIN they are easy to remove and extremely durable. Obviously a very clean surface is required to enjoy the Collinite longevity be it applied to paint or wheels. Many (most) alloy wheels are clear coated so they are the same as a painted surface.

+1

I've waxed my wheels for years. Makes them easier to clean and helps with the brake dust.

Collinite 476 is what I used last time. But, I've used just about any wax I've had on hand.

Any wax is good for the rims

I use whatever sealant I'm using on the paint. If the wheels are a major pain (lots of spokes), I simply hit them with AquaWax often. I tried WheelWax, and it was a waste. It worked OK, but there's no sense in buying a dedicated wheel sealant.

In the past when I have waxed my alloy wheels (assuming you mean raw aluminum, not clearcoated?) it always ends up making them look foggy and harder to polish up at a later time.

I stick with Meguiars or 3M polish for alloy wheels and try to get it done once a month. Works fine.
