while in high school and university I was handed down the family van. 1984 Dodge D250 van. 8 passenger, side riot doors and factory propane fueled. I remember using some sort of Quaker State conventional 10w30 with an OCOD for years. [censored] it rarely even had the oil changed. Never got black. Never burned any. Retired it with 300,00 hard km on her. The new owner painted it green and drives it to Roughrider games. Used to call it the riot van, tali-van, barbecue van or Mormon assault vehicle (MAV for short).

A 1948 Plymouth sedan with suicide doors I bought from my grandfather for $50.00 with an overbored Dodge I6 truck engine.

Lets see the year was 1978. I ran Pennzoil 10w30 in my 57 Chevy Pickup. It had a 235 6cyl in it with a cartridge type filter that was a dealer option I believe. I ran that a few years and swapped in a built 283 V-8.
Quaker State Deluxe 10w-40 and Fram Filter in 1974 or 73. Red 1969 Mustang Mach I. 351 manual 3 speed on the floor. This car was REALLY hard to get moving on cold Michigan mornings.
