Hello folks and thought of this question as I love history and old stuff. What was the oil brand and grade you used in your first to you vehicle? Mine was a 88' Delta 88 and I used Pennzoil 10w40 with a AC Delco filter

Tech2000 10w30 and an STP all-metal filter from walmart on my 89 mazda 323 in the summer of 1999. 74 cents times four quarts for oil, $1.97 for the filter.

Bought the filter after the Knize family/ Minimopar website cut open a bunch and liked it.

i have been driving 25 years and dont remember , but im sure i used the cheapest thing possible, i had no knowledge of that stuff back then

It was Mobil 10w-30 or 10w-40 (don't remember the grade, but I used to love the color of blue bottles) and I believe a Deutche oil filter from Autozone. This was around '94 when I turned 16.

This was on a 1970 Chevrolet C-10 with a 250 I-6 engine. Also, used the same combination on a 1975 Monte Carlo with a 350 V8.

Don't remember the first. But the first I remember was buying Mobil 1 10w-30 for my brand new 1989 Acura Integra.

65 Ford Falcon Wagon. Used Valvoline 10W40 and a Ford Motorcraft filter. Must have been cheap, because my family never had a strong preference for a single oil brand.

Mine was a '73 Vega.
I used (lots of) Citgo 10W-40, which Kmart regularly had on sale in the late seventies for twenty nine cents a quart.
IIRC, I also used Kmart's house brand Motorvator oil filters.
My first good car was a '76 MGB I bought in 1980 for $3500.00 with 18.5K on it and a new top. Still have it.
It also got various brands of 10W-40 and various oil filters on 3K drains.
My first real car bought new was an 86 Civic Wagon.
It got various brands of 10W-40 up to around 90K after which it got various brands of synthetic oil, form 10W-30 through M1 15W-50.
It got mostly Fram orange cans throught the 200K+ miles we owned it.

1973 chrysler new yorker.
valvoline 10w40 fram filter well over 180,000 trouble free miles on that combo.

1978 VW Rabbit 1.6 liter engine

Got my oil and Filters from GI Joes in 1988

I know the oil was Valvoline, probably 10w-40

Filter was likely Purolator (I know it wasn't a OCOD and GI Joes carried a lot of Purolator product so I'm pretty certain of this).

You know, I usually remember useless trivia like that, but I actually have no idea in this case. I suspect it was probably Valvoline, since that was a very common oil in local stores at the time, and I remember buying it many times when I was a teenager.
