My first was at 8 years old in a 1972 AMC Matador station wagon, also a B Model John Deere Tractor. I did slam into a wood pile with the station wagon, my dad was rolling with laughter at that one.

'69 Pontiac hearse was the first car I drove. A buddy's family ran a funeral home and we drove it in the rear parking lot. Took my test in my dad's '74 Ford 500.

1968 Firebird. My dad bought it in '74 from his mother who bought it new. I had a sporty grandma.

She had a '65 Olds 442 with a 4 speed before that and bought the Firebird when my dad's brother demolished the Olds.

Farmall 'H', started at age 5 - we needed all the help we could get on the farm! As for a car, my uncle's 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. God bless him, he had the patience to teach me that my dad didn't have.

I learned how to work a clutch and shift on a 1977 Kawasaki KD100 dirtbike when I was 8.

A year later my dad bought my mom who had never driven a stickshift a 78 Subaru brat. Dad was gone away alot and he basically dropped the car off and left for work.

I actully taught my mom how to Drive a stickshift when I was 9!

A 1941 or 1942 US Military Jeep. I think it was made by Ford though. Got a kick out of the manual wipers as I was only 12.

1987 Ford LTD , my dads car and that thing saw **** unitl he repalced it at 500,000 miles. 2 teenage drivers drove that thing on weekends for 3 years.

farmall super c and super h but i did most of my real learnin' (and test) in an '83 ford escort (4 on the floor). since that car i haven't driven a stick on a regular basis. you don't seem to forget though.

Wow, I guess I am a youngun! I learned on a 1995 Chevy Caprice. That was 4 years ago, and I still have the car.

At least you got to learn on a car that still retains a lot of the features of the best days of the automobile: V8 engine, body on frame construction, full sized, and rear wheel drive. That car is built like a half ton pickup truck and should last many more years. That car is a keeper.
