So the broken metal colored arm is corroded onto the shaft. It's splined. It's cast but unsure if it's aluminum. No sparks while grinding. Does white metal spark when grinding? Cannot remember.

I don't care about the broken arm or shaft. Just the black bar above the broken arm

Have tried PB Blaster, Mapp gas torch. BFH. Still stuck. Cannot get the jaws of my gear puller in there.

I have a powerful 7" corded grinder. Oxyacetylene and a plasma cutter.

Plasma cutter would be most fun. But most time to setup.

Grinder is the easiest to setup.

A 2pound hammer and a sharp cold chisel. Use eye protection. Is the metal smoothing out the wheel on the grinder? I'd use the grinder and then the hammer and chisel. Please post results. TIA

Yes it seems the metal is smoothing out the wheel on the grindstone. Or coating it.

Tried the cold chisel. I think it's just putting a dent in the broken arm and not popping it off.

Do you have a thin cutting wheel you can use in the grinder? If not, consider using a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel to vertically split the broken arm. It looks to be an aluminum alloy, so it should not be difficult to slice and relieve tension on the stud.

So I use
What's a pickle fork for?
I got a pickle fork, put it between the two arms, pounded with a hammer and cracked half the arm off. I could then see about 180 degrees of the shaft. But the piece left would not pop off. Repositioned the pickel fork and now it's stuck on the shaft. I saw how I could remove the shaft from the housing the other way. Did that and freed up the one arm I wanted to reuse. Now how do I get the pickle fork unstuck?
