Hi,

My BMW 318i has machined hubs. The dealer always puts some silver looking stuff on the hubs when they remove the wheels.

Its darker than regular permatex anti-seize. It seems to be semi-metallic, not grease (I have a tire place that puts a little grease on the hubs before mounting wheels).

Im changing wheels on my saab this weekend, and want to add something to the hubs. My saab came with some green grease on the hubs.

I thought I remembered another thread on here stating that some saabs had white lithium grease reccomended for the hubs. Can anyone confirm/deny/reccomend/advise against/suggest a brand to use?

What is the best stuff to put on the hubs to prevent rusting, sticking of wheels, corrosion, etc.

It is important that it does not impede heat transfer from the hubs/rotors/etc to the wheels.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

JMH

The only thing that comes to mind is CRC brake disc lube. They sell in in small (16oz?) tubs at autozone for $12 or you can buy it at NAPA in small tubes for about $3.50.

I believe this stuff is moly'something'date based, so I'm not sure if that will impede heat transfer; it is dark, graphite/metal looking, and "greasy" in texture but I dont think its a grease, if it is its a high temp one for sure to be able to put on the back of brake pads.
