what to do with mmo?

I was waiting in line behind 5 other people at AutoZone yesterday, so I decided to browse the store until the line cleared. Well, a quart of MMO just jumped into my basket; I'm not sure why I bought it.

I will be changing the oil in my wife's Expedition 4.6L (109k miles) one day this week. Would it hurt (or help) the engine if I run this (1) qt. of MMO mixed with (5) qt's. of Quaker State 5w30 conventional, & run it for 3k miles?

I'm not draining before 3k (minimum), so if it's not a good idea to leave MMO in for that long, I'll just leave it on the shelf for now.

I have been asking the same question. I had a gift certificate for a store. Was trying to use it up. Had several quarts of oil, a bottle of Synthetic ATF to make Molakule's LC/ATF penetrating oil and was trying to use up the remainder.

I had never actually seen MMO at retail. It was on at half price. It has been sitting in my basement ever since.

What should I do with it? Add it to gas? Use it as a flush before next oil change. Make Molotov cocktails?

Also, there appear to be a lot of generic looking STP-ish additives for sale under the brand CD2 which are in suspiciously similar bottles to MMO. The Manufacturing company listed has the same zip code as MMO. Anyone have any feedback? It does not give me much confidence that they appear to be the same outfit.

Now I would never recommend doing this ..especially with a newer car. Nor would I ever expect anyone else to do it ...even with an older one. I take these riske measures to scoff at chicken littles ..I have yet to get burned.

But I've dumped a quart of MMO and two quarts of ATF (or was it two and two

) and drove with a low level cloud following me for around two tankfuls of fuel. Nothing but good effects. Instant start (no cranking ..just bump the key). Now I've limited my "overboard" stuff to my 92 Caravan 3.0 with 166k miles ...so..I don't have too many fears. It doesn't have anything too sophisticated to it (OBDI) ..but one would imagine that fuel injectors aren't any different ..nor are O2 sensors. I have my original cat.

I believe that you can use it in your fuel to any concentration that you please without any ill effects. Any positive effects are subject to things that can be effected by the agent in question. That is, if you're not dirty or crudded up ..you aren't going to get much out of it.

Agian dosing, to the extent that I did, could never be recommended.

We use MMO in aviation engines quite a bit. It helps lubricate the push rod guides which is often a problem in Av. engines. Its been used a long time even in the old cranky radial engines from yestern year. It will thin the oil out but burns off rather quickly according to some aviation athorities. Maybe a good idea not to use too much in hot weather.

I love MMO I have been using this product in my truck for years now. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger and 2004 Mazda MPV. I don't add it to the oil. Only because it has more cold weather advantages and I don't have that problem down where I live here in the south. I put it religiously in my gas for over 3years now. I love it. I have never missed a treatment. In the gas of course. The truck gets 300 miles to the tank while i was only getting 280 before. I have done no modifications either everything is stock. I love this product and you would too. Marvel has been around for years at least since my grandfather who is 75 been around. He used to work for United Airlines. They used it everyday in there fuel and oil. He stands by it.

The reason why CD2 and MMO look to be in the same bottles is because they are. Turtlewax has taken over the company now along with CD2 that doesn't mean that they are both crap becuase of the bottles. I have used CD2 products along with MMO and they both are very well developed products with many years behind there belts.

I have heard that if you drop a dead skunk in with MMO you get "High Karate" colgne! Just kidding. I have found it to work well as lube for gasoline! It also works well to flush powersteering system.

I would use MMO (or Seafoam) as a engine flush. Dump some if it in the engine, drive it for a day or two, and then change the oil.

MMO contains solvents so I'd only use it sparingly as a crankcase flush. The last times I did this I used less than 1 ounce MMO per quart of oil in the sump and I left it in for less than 100 miles before draining (2 days commuting back and forth to work).

Because I'd be concerned about leaving deposits in fuel injectors, I'd only use MMO in the gasoline of a carburetor-equipped engine. But when I did, fuel mileage went up a couple percent and oil consumption decreased.

I placed the MMO on the shelf and began using LC in its place.

Experimental aircraft mechs are beginning to switch too from what Odis Beaver is saying.
