Yes, they OWE the OP his parts back, although I agree I would NOT let them touch my vehicle after this issue. But DEFINITELY pursue the missing parts or let them pay for new ones that will be handed to you with proof that they are indeed NEW ORIGINAL FACTORY VOLVO PARTS....After they hand you your new parts I would be businesslike and firm and inform them that you will be contacting the BBB and your Provinces' consumer protection and affairs council.

I'm really sorry to see how the OP is having trouble, but these
"incidents" occur so often in the auto repair and service industry
that it makes them one of the least trusted industries of any consumer service providers. They get the reputation they so well deserve among consumers, that most of these businesses are
thieving, deceitful, criminal, and incompetent to boot.

I have been in contact with the owners son this evening.

We both went over the issues and I admitted that he did help me out in some tough times (when I installed my fuel pump incorrectly and the gasket was leaking fuel all over the back seat, he fixed it the best he could in the short time he had for free.)

He also went out of his way to repair and replace some parts that he noticed were bad and never charged me but did make mention (power window switch, motor mount etc.)

To be honest guys, i really want this to work out. He offered me a new dip stick and I'll take him up on it. He also offered to let me take my car to another shop to get worked on and he'll pay the bill for the missing fasteners. I declined this as I told him I would be willing to work with him in the future for my cars' needs and I'm pretty sure I can source most/all of the fasteners from a wrecking yard fir free

I also mentioned I want to work closely with him to prepare the car mechanically for a road trip to SoCal/Tijuana to get the body restored (I just need to find the RIGHT shop at the right price).

He's quite upset about the reviews that I've decided to remove them considering he's willing to work with me.

thanks again for the insight guys. Sometimes the best solution is trying to work things out, rather than severing ties and starting a new relationship with a new shop.

I feel like I've been given enough chances in life by others to make things right, so it's the least I can offer him and their family business

Oh and btw, the car is my old 88 325is

thanks for listening and contributing and all the best

So you think a mechanic cheated you and stole parts from your car, now you're going back to him and plan to give him more work???

Then you want to take your car 1000+ miles to a Tijuana body shop that quotes you the "right price" sight unseen and you think THEY won't screw you over????

C'mon man!
