what to clean carpet and floor mats with?

I usually beat the mats like they used to do way back with throw rugs. Seems like no matter what i do to the rugs this always gets dirt/dust out. I still vacume the mats though and use scotchguard oxy cleaner & scotchguard protection in 1.

The guys at the car wash I went to yesterday used degreaser, a brush, a pressure washer and finally, a mat machine to clean carpeted mats. This worked relatively well.

I tried using a Rug Doctor to clean some mats this morning and it worked OK, but I did not have time to prep the spots before hand. I think some combination of prep and hot water extraction is likely to be the quickest way of cleaning the mats while minimizing the dry time.

Craig inCanada nailed it with the oxy- clean!!!
Tried it on my Regal that was previously owned by a very heavy smoker.
Carpets were yellow as was the headliner. A light mist of the mixture and a generous rub with a towel on the headliner worked amazing. Be sure to not get the headliner too wet. The floor carpets are another story.... Soak them down good and use a fairly stiff scrub brush to work up the nap. Lots of vacuuming in between as it's amazing how much little bits of gravel come out of the rugs.
Long story short....2 hours of hard labour resulted in carpets that look and smell like new!!!!

I pour boiling water from a kettle on the stain, then suck it up with a shop vac. Takes out all stains, and takes out salt stains with ease. Environmentally friendly and also free.

I always used the Woolite carpet cleaner in the past. It`s very gentle, cleans well, and smells good (no overbearing chemical smell).

I was using my neighbors power washer recently, and remembered my floor mats. Sprayed them with a wide-tip till the water ran clear. It also fluffed up where the mat had been worn flat. Hung them up in the Sun to dry.

On carpet, I use Tuff-Stuff foam cleaner. If that doesn't do it, try heating up some water in the microwave to ~165 deg F. Pour some on the stain, let it sit a few seconds, then suck it up with a shop vac. Repeat if necessary.
