I want another drop for my cable to add another TV in my home as the box cannot be tampered with (crime) so I call Charter and wait 10 min to be connected to someone outside of the USA who I can barely understand to set up the service visit and that takes another 10 min.

Here's here the kicker, my neighbor lady works in the local Charter office where the service will come out of but I cannot set it up with her. I was informed they will call me two times before the service visit on Monday and if I do not answer any one of these calls, the service visit will be cancelled and I will have to do it over. UNBELEIVABLE

When I told the lady on the line about my neighbor, she started laughing and could hardly finish the goodbye's.

Charter sucks. Period.

Charter is the only cable provider in my area, and they take full advantage of their "monopoly" by giving poor service and poor customer service. I had Charter up until about three years ago. The first week of every month, like clockwork, my cable would go out and stay out for 24 to 36 hours. I'd call and get the same "we're working on it" baloney. This went of for about six months and the last time it happened I told the Charter service person on the phone if it happened again I was switching to satellite. Sure enough, the first week of the following month, no cable. I've been a very happy Dish Network customer ever since.

With Dish, the only time I've ever been without TV was during extremely severe rain storms, and that's happened only 3 or 4 times in three years.

No problem with cable here, all fiber optic and they have redundant loops. They only interuptions we get are when someone hit an underground cable. They claim our area was one of their first to get this state of the are system about 5 yrs ago or so.

Also my internet source. 80 cable channels and 5mb internet for $96 a month. They have special laws in Michigan to prevent these companies from overcharging. They have to get a franchise from the local gov't enity to operate and then pay a fee per subscribed to that enity. They are lobbying to change those laws.

I had a good friend with DISH and he was having all kinds of problems with equipment and local service, swore never again.

Interesting. Same lousy service here but we only pay $59 for the same package. I guess I don't want those laws
