Hi all i own a 2006 tiburon 2.0 5 speed. Has a sri and a few other bolt ons. Miles are 108k. I bought this car with 104k. I drive this car with spirit. I was wonder what kind of oil i should be running? I drained the dealer oil and used some synpower with oem filter. My car is drinking that synpower up about 1 qt every 2k. This car will be driven during bad wheather, getting groceries, winter, ect., my main vechicle is a yamaha r6. I do live in washington state. My goal is to get the best proction with little oil consumption. I plan so stick with oem filter for i dont get the famous tiburon tick from aftermarket filters. I am a fan of syn oil. The motor is naturaly high revving. Like crusing at 65/70 ur at 3k rpms in 5th. Go ahead and educate me on what oil i should be using. And im not brand biased. I usually shift out of each gear at 5, 5.5k. Oh ya and my work is only 7 miles away in city driving never really past 45mph
What oil would you recommend for my driving?

I would definitely give Rotella T6 5w40 or 0w40 a shot. Full synthetic, proven formula, best protection on budget. Plus it's thicker than Synpower, assuming you used 5w30/10w30 or thinner. That would definitely slow the consumption down. If money is unlimited - some Amsoil 0w40 or Redline 0w40 would be great. I also liked to do a Rotella 5w40 with a bottle of Liqui Moly MOS2. Great results for my 4-banger that I had at the time. That engine was always near redline and never skipped a beat.

Could you expand why you recommend this oil for me?
Mobil 1 has a huge following and they have had good results, so most feel no need to look elsewhere. It's good oil. I own stock in XOM, so it won't bother me if you buy their oils
Me, I'd go with Maxlife blend (red bottle) in whatever grades you prefer. Anything over 100,000 and I start stepping towards Maxlife or HDEO. And you already stated that you don't want anything heavier than 30 so most HDEO's will not be your friend...
Maxlife has some of Valvoline's better technology in their add packs. It's sort of VR-1 jr
It seems to hold up well. It will keep seals soft and supple. I can't find a downside to Maxlife

Go to Walmart, find oil that meets Hyundai specs and buy the cheapest one... nothing special about your car or driving habits.
Ok so i narrowed down my pickings to Full Synthetic maxlife or Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage, and i miss calculated my oil consumption. My oil consumption has been 1 qt in 2800 miles. Current oil is synpower 5/30

I think you can use pretty much anything you want. I'd just buy whatever high mileage 5w30 or 10w30 is on sale or has a rebate....

You might be better served checking out a Tiburon enthusiast site if you haven't already...I believe there are at least two that I know of....

Don't be afraid to try a 5W-40. If you absolutely have to have a 30, try some Delo XLE 10w30. Honestly, you're overthinking this, and your oil consumption is not bad at all.

If you want a syn, I'd recommend Mobil 1 High Mileage.
If you're thinking of maybe trying a 5W-40, any concerns you have should be answered with a visit to a UK, EU or Australian Hyundai site.
5W-40 would certainly be among the recommended grades in all of these venues.

I hear ya...I guess my point was that you'll be more subject to opinions and pontification on here by people who likely have no experience with, knowledge of, or interest in the Tiburon....versus a filtered enthusiast community who has experience with what works well and why. Every car is different, but switching to synthetic on an engine that's ran conventional all it's life, a little oil consumption is to be expected. That said, the engine in my Tacoma used to drink up a quart of Mobil 1 every 3000 miles without fail. I never really thought anything of it until I started getting more involved with BITOG and other online sources. I heard good things about Pennzoil Platinum, so I went ahead and gave it a try and now the engine doesn't use any noticeable amount of oil throughout the 7500 mile OCI I run it at. The engine seems smoother and definitely idles quieter on the Platinum as well.
Like I said, every engine is different. The only way to know for sure is try different ones and see which one is consumed the least. All the big name brand oils are excellent, there's no need to worry about which is "best" nowadays.
