I have a '95 s-10 with 138000 miles on it and got the truck at 98,000 miles. I have been using castrol blend 5W30 with 3,000 mile oil changes. The driving is really soft about 70% of the time and hard as all **** the other 30%. I live in Northern Virginia which will get near 0F in the winter and above 100F in the summer. I am going to start using 10W30 when out of winter months. What oil should I be using, Castrol blend or some other brand/type. Thanks for all the help and advice.

BTW. I change my oil every 3,000 miles religiously. It burns no oil and has an extrealy small leak at the oil pan, almost can't see it..

We have seen some very good uoa results with Castrol Syntec Blend. I think you have already made a very good choice. If it's working for you and the pricing level is ok, I think your fine.

You're already using a very good oil. As stated above, stay with this unless you are paying well over $2/qt. For $1.42/qt. at Wally the Motorcraft 5w30 blend looks very good. Since you stated your truck is not using oil, there is no reason to not use 5w30 all year.

You might be just as well of with the regular Castrol. With the new GF-4 specification-the quality of the GTX will have gone up and is probably equivalent of the Blend.
