BoooJust use whatever 0w20 or 5w30 is cheapest and meets the manufacturer spec. It’s a ~225 hp engine, not an f1 car. 3.5k miles is nothing for today’s oils, even the cheapest ones
Im around 240whp and it's a 2022 with 66k milesYear, mileage?
Btw, what’s the tune yielding whp?
5W40, something like Motul X-Cess 5W40 GEN2, Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, Valvoline European Vehicle 5W40, Quaker STate 5W40 (repackaged PPE 5W40), Mobil1 0W40FS, Mobil1 5W40FS.Im around 240whp and it's a 2022 with 66k miles
I think the hazard here is more like the use it isn't seeing. How long is he driving it?Nice. Also what kind of use is it seeing? Track, street, auto crossing, etc?
This guy was running a Subaru on E85 and changing oil at 2 k miles. Didn't go so well. Its 240hp, not 700. Whatever meets specs at Walmart and cheapest.....just change it say every 2k running E85......
That pretty impressive.Im around 240whp and it's a 2022 with 66k miles
Daily driving and frequent mountain runs (i don't do anything that crazy but I don't baby the car either) I do plan on auto crossing once I get another vehicleNice. Also what kind of use is it seeing? Track, street, auto crossing, etc?
It's got an Ace 4-2-1 equal length header combined with a front pipe and a catback (it's fully catless) and them I did an intake resonator delete paired with a high flow filter and a ram air intake snorkelThat pretty impressive.
Any other mods?
Im hardly ever not driving it I work Monday through Friday and drive 40miles each way car is rarely sitting for more than 10 hours thanks for the advice on the oil analysis I didnt even think of that so I will just do an oil change with what I've been using and then get a sample and send it inI think the hazard here is more like the use it isn't seeing. Constant short trips? Or longer trips to get the oil in temp?
Potential engine killer is water in oil.
I'm just about to go flex fuel and the advice I got from a local oil manufacturer was to go thicker and do a UOA reasonably quickly like 1000 km to see what was happening then make a decision from here.
In my case it was 15W50 in an engine which usually uses 0w40.
After a UOA can potentially dial it back down but before I have any test results the engine is protected.
OP try a thicker 40 like a 15W40 or 50 like a 5w50 or 15W50 then do a UOA after 1-2,000 km and go from there.
500hp civic? Please tell me you run kirkland in itIts 240hp, not 700. Whatever meets specs at Walmart and cheapest.....just change it say every 2k running E85......
