I challenge anyone to find evidence that the A02 made by Honeywell does not perform the job of filtering oil as well as other filters.

It's the same concept as Fram challenge its competitors for not filter as well as others. Fram/Honeywell made the filter with card board end cap but Honda sell for the same price / more than the aftermarket competitors. Other than trying to keep the physical dimension the same, there isn't a reason to use it over supertech or other filter.

Regarding to S2000 using the A01: that engine rev up to 10000rpm red line and you don't want to mess around with filter or card board end cap collapsing at near red line, so they use a more rigid and less restrictive media for the filter.

Congrats on getting a solid driver! I too have a '98 DX AT that I bought nearly 2 years ago with 142K miles at the time. It now has 179K miles and runs like a champ. Knocking on wood, I've never done anything to mine other than routine maintenance. I switched over to synthetic this spring and never had a leak and had zero consumption in about 9K miles (Amsoil 10w30 ATM). I switched to Amsoil 5w30 XL for my winter change. My schedule is two changes a year (April & October). I don't have a particular favorite grade, but I'm an Amsoil devotee.

We took it up to Minnesota back in August and it got about 37mpg. I'd say with all the work that was done on your's, you're good to go for a while. Just the timing belt/water pump/belts typically run upwards of $600 at some dealers. Have fun with it!

been a good one so far pat, best $ we have spent in awhile. we are having a little prob with the a/c though. when you are running the ac, and you get on the gas with the rpm's getting hi the car is make a really loud whining noise. and it only does it when the ac is on. the a/c is cooling fine, its just making one [censored] of a noise. my mechanic tends to think the compressor is not the prob, he says when they start acting up, they usually go out really quick. since the car has been making this noise for about 4 months now, its gonna be a hit and miss deal i guess. although he did say it might be a valve not opening up all of the way. trying to make it until spring before getting it fixed. do you have any ideas at what might be making the car make this noise pat ? thanks alot

Did you take any fram filters apart lately? I did in 2005 and i wont use them anymore. I did use them in the past with no known problems except on my fords you always had the dry start up noise after sitting for a day or two..
Just my opinion

The Air Conditioner in most older Hondas will make kind of a whining noise when it is on by nature... it should increase in pitch when the RPMs increase, since it is being driven by the motor via accessory belt. I know mine does it too, as do most other Integras I've known, and other Honda Civics, Accords, etc. It sounds kind of like a supercharger or something,

I'm fairly confident that it's normal.

Can't say my a/c whines, but it does have some sort of noise like a vibration. Have yet to figure out where it's coming from, but it's cooling fine.

dont much about it guys, but it is not normal trust me. my wife was driving the civic the other day behind me, and when she pulled up behind at a stop sign, i could hear it. it could be a belt making the noise i guess who knows, but it is not normal at all, believe me
