Hi, I drive a honda CRX with a B20b engine swap "from a 97 honda CR-V". My engine is also turbocharged. Oil cooled only. The highest it's revs go is about 7200. I live in idaho, so winters are pretty cold. Sometimes in the teens. Mostly 20's. summers are really hot. Up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. I used Mobil 1 10w30 fully synthetic for a while. But my tuner suggested I switch to 40w in the summer. I am now using rotella t6. It's 5w 40. Does that seem okay? Can I use it all year round? I can't drive the car much in the winter anyways. My engine is making about 250hp. I still have quite a few miles left on this rotella. Can I just use it all year around? I always let my car warm up really good

If you are using the small d51 battery and the temps dip really low you are going to want the lighter oil so it turns over, 400CCA won't get you much. I would just use Mobil 1 0w40 year round, or just in the winter then use what ever 40wt is on sale in the summer.

T6 is highly regarded as being amazing in the Subaru community
you have the 5W, which is good for cold starts, and the 40 which is high enough for the shear of a turbo engine.

Use Rotella T6 5w40 as much as you want, wont do harm.
if you're really iffy on it, Lubro Moly, Mobil, and a few others make 0w40

I am just a little worried since I have stock bearing clearances that its going to be to thick to get in all the nooks and crannys. I think honda recommends 5w30. So I 5w 40 with a turbo should be okay I hope. Plus my engine bay gets really hot.

I actually have my battery relocated inside my car. So it kinda helps keeping it insulated and it doesn't get too cold

Plenty run 5w30 on 300whp b18 builds with no lubrication failures, you want the oil to be as thin as possible, but as thick as necessary.

If you really want to know what is "best" get an oil pressure gauge and monitor it under different weights.

So how long should my oil change intervals be? 3000? I think I will stick with rotella

I have no idea the condition of your motor, what you used for your build, or the tune... but I would defiantly verify with a used oil analysis for what ever you plan.

You can start with 3k, but I would do 5k or so with t6 and then sample to see how much you can go with it from there.

T-6 is an Hdeo. 3000 mile oil change interval is a total waste with that oil. Any pcmo will do 5000 mile intervals unless they are seeing a severe service life.
I suggest taking a sample at 5000 miles and see where the tbn is,as well as contaminants, then you can make an informed decision.

I am betting the Rotella will be good for a lot longer than 3000 miles even if you beat the heck out if it.

I don't really abuse the car. I baby it. But sometimes I do some pulls. I just want this oil to last a while. In the past year I've had to keep modifying my oil pan drain. I had to change the oil at least 4 times without putting more than 10 miles on the car
