1995 Mazda Autozam Carol with a Suzuki F6A 657 cc 3 cylinder N.A. single cam engine. Didn't come with a manual, not that I can read Japanese anyway. Wikipedia says a range of 8.7-11:1. Anybody here that is more familiar with those engines have an idea? I doubt it has a knock sensor as it has a mechanical distributor and pretty sure is carbureted. I filled it up, all of 6 gallons, with 87. Don't notice any knocking yet, but then, it's hard to hear anything at speed.

Regular gas in Japan is 89 RON which is actually less octane than our 87 AKI.

I doubt that they would make economy cars that require premium.
