Yep ... the FL-822 is basically just a Purolator Classic L14610. I'd spend a couple bucks more and step up to the PureOne PL14610.

Thanks Zee. Yeah even though I don't own one now I tried several different filter applications on my 2.5L Altima over the years when I owned it. Also I've followed many previous threads on the topic including yours and others like the FL822 thread you linked here. Also, son owns a G37S and I've had him using the longer P1 PL14610 rather that the spec'd shorty (14612) filter. As typical with Nissan/Infiniti there's lots of room for the longer 14160/7317 filter application in the G.

I will say there have been some other Nissan oem's posted here with silicone adbv's, but I expect the Nissan oem I posted is commonly used by many Nissan dealers just like my local dealer.

Thank you for all the repsonses. I will look for the P1 filter. However, the Walmart by my house keeps several MC filters in stock but are usually short on Purolator. They've got bosch and fram too.

There's nothing wrong with the Bosch, either. That should be basically a P1 clone. We don't get a lot of P1s up here, so I get the Bosch ones instead, and they're dirt cheap.

As said, no real reason to use the 822 unless you can easily obtain it for less than the L14610 everyday Wally price of $3.27. Also, while I'd might run a P1 to 10k or 1 year in a well maintained vehicle, 10k on the 822/L14160 is a bit of of a stretch. It's a nice 5-6k filter imo.
