A way to prevent this is if everyone works to extend their social networks. Maybe more people would have met this guy, and could have caught it before he went berserk.

I am willing to stand corrected as I tread ever so closely to the P exclusion but I think that Utah is currently the only state that allows for campus carry. All others are school related gun free zones even if those states allow for general CCW. So Wisconsin and Illinois law is no better or worse than other states except Utah regarding this type of tragedy. If I was a betting man I'd bet this is about to change in favor of more access on schools by legal CCW holders. As they sometimes say, "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."
I saw elsewhere that the shooter once worked six months at a prison but walked off the job and also served six months in the Army before getting a Section 8 (mental) discharge. But it was an internet source so who knows. Still awfully sad.

Ambien was just mentioned on CNN.
I wonder if they will look for this drug when they do the autopsy. He might have though it was all a dream.

I have no doubt it is not funny for those who actually suffer the side effects mentioned, but some of those made me laugh out LOUD!
Fot the record, I've taken Ambien before when I had a serious case of amnesia and I do not recall any untoward side effects...
