I am looking to change over to synthetic in my truck. It is a 2002 dodge 3500 dually w/ the 5.9 ISB Cummins. i currently use a mix of rotella T and Lucas Oil Stabilizer, what type of Syn would you all suggest

Marginally better fuel economy & better cold start-up performance.
Schaeffer9000 5W40 has been the best oil I have used. Check the used oil analysis and I think you will be impressed. The price is very good also.
I am thinking that im gonna go with schaeffers, now do i use only schaeffers, or should i use an oil additive also?
Schaeffer's needs nothing to make it better. Read up on the used oil analysis for this oil and you have to be impressed.People are really liking how the 9000series 5W40 is holding up in everything from P'Strokes to Duramax. It runs over 600hr intervals in my Kubotas.I know of one Cummins Dodge that is running 18K intervals on it with no problem. It is also priced well for the performance you get. I am sold on it.

thanks,now i just need to know where to get the schaeffers oil at, i am from nashville TN and have had trouble finding oil in the past

The 7000series is a blend that works great. It comes in 15W40 and is priced right.
The 9000series which I use comes in 5W40. It is a full synthetic and is also priced well.
Both oils are capable of very impressive intervals for the price. I have switched my shop over to Schaeffer oils exclusively and my customers have been well pleased.
I'll add that the 15w40 7000 blend has cold flow characteristics typical of an 8W-40, if there was such a thing. You may get slightly better fuel economy and slightly better extreme cold starts from the 9000 5W-40. They are very similar oils and add packs and prices are fairly close. I think these 2 products may be some of the best values in diesel engine oil for extended drains. I've used Rotella syn 5W-40 and had good results as well. Definitely go with the Donaldson ELF 7349 oil filter or Amsoil's EaO80. These are both top notch and good for extended intervals as well, definitely worth the extra cost IMHO.
