Creepy but clean.
Creepy and annoying, and apparently resilient to washing!
Let's see how it does in the dryer...
Wow!! I've been living in the same house for over 3 years, and in the same area my whole life. I've never seen one of these things until a few weeks ago. I opened the front door at night and about 6 of them flew in attracted to the light.
Yuck! I've usually spray around the house to keep spiders and bugs ants away, but I think these things aren't bothered by pesticides since they fly.
I wonder if they're migrating in large amounts, or maybe a oncoming plauge.

I see a ton of those here as well. You can hear them from across the house when they crash into something.
Ha! I'm getting something to treat my lawn, this summer my lawn has been unusually brown and I've been watering the heck out of it.
Maybe I'll try that lawn elixer that was on here a few weeks back.

No... Youtube wasn't around then...
They're not huge, but they are solid. Just glad they don't tend to splatter. Really gets your attention when you get hit on the lip, chin, or throat at 70 per on your motorsickle. They make "whap" noises when they hit you in the chest. Face shield hits sound impressive too.
Would have said a Christmas Beetle, cept you aren't in Oz.
Looking at them, our Christmas Beetles are pretty close relations.
The ones that most closely resemble yours grow about 5/8 long, and there are others that are well over an inch and hurt like crazy if they hit your hand while surfing it out the car window.

Right - June bug.
A decently sized beetle that flies around and likes to bump into you.
Once you know what they are, it won't bother you any more.

As a kid we would capture them and feed them to the chickens and watch em peck them to death,they loved them, haha
It looks very similar to what we call a June Beetle here. Used to be they would be very thick around June here every year, for the past 20 years they are not around as much as they were, much like the lightning bug, I think it corresponds to urban sprawl and indiscriminate use of pesticides.
