My oldest gun in my collection right now is this Frommer Stop 1912 dated 1917. It was an officers pistol used in WW1 by the Austro Hungarian army. When I got it, it was covered in rust, had no finish left, and the action was seized closed. A 2 week bath in penetrant and a little TLC allowed me to bring it back to its former glory.

While not new I also have this 1871 Open Top Colt repro.

I also have this Remingto Model 8 in 35 remington that is pretty close to being the oldest. I havent run the numbers to see the production date yet. Bought it at a garage sale.

My oldest is a 1917 Enfield SMLE. Bought it at a gunshow many years ago for $100.00 The wood has been completely refinished and metal surfaces have been parkerised. Oddly enough, I have never shot it!

Nice gun. A John Browning design from that era is almost instantly recognizable as such.

My oldest gun is either my M93 Spanish Mauser, which has a roll date of 1929, or my uncle's old Remington Model 11 (which was probably made in the 30s, but I'm not sure.)

Gotta love the old humpback receivers of Mr Browning.

You can also see where Mr. Kalashnikov got his safety lever idea.

I've got a Civil War era Zoave .58cal muzzle loader. I cleaned it up and shot it a few times, but then decided to restore it and purchased a replica for shootin...

Best,

I have this Colt Police Positive in 38spl from 1913

but my oldest is this muzzleloading shotgun with a damascus barrel and some inlay from the 1860's, it's marked Bentley & Son on the inside of the side lock.

My oldest is my Mosin-Nagant. 1942, Izhevsk.

My Grandpa has this Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless.

I dont remember 100%, but I think its early '30s manufacture.
This one was actually stolen from his house around 2000. In 2006 Las Vegas Metro Police recovered at a traffic stop. It was in poor shape. There was light rusting on the barrel and sliding surfaces and the recoil spring was bent out of shape. It also lacked any magazines. I bought a couple repro magazines and new springs as a Christmas gift one year and fixed it up for him.

Model 17(as in 1917) Remington, 20 ga pump shotgun. IIRC, serial # well under 20,000. In the mid 1930's another company bought the patent, added a few tweaks, & the 17 Remington design continued for decades more- as the Ithaca Model 37.

Update- I thought so, decided to make sure. According to Remington's website info, the designers of the Model 17 were: Browning and Pedersen!

Hard to top a pedigree like that.

And here is a little trivia for you: Ithica had planned to introduce their version of this shotgun as the Model 33 in 1933. But while Browning's patents on the design had expired, Pedersen's had not. So they had to wait until 1937 when Pedersen's patents had expired to bring their gun to market, hence the model number change.

Have an Iver Johnson Model 55 Target .22LR revolver. Should be from around 1955 - 1958 from what little research I've done on it.

It is a 38 SPL or a 32? I have one similar, but it's a 32 caliber.

Usually they will still have the original markings on them. Any Mosin Nagant receiver made prior to 1928 will also be octagonal instead of round.

I love the Finn ones the best. The finns never had to make a single receiver as they had enough captured ones to work over into their rifles. I have a friend with one that has a Remington made receiver and a Westinghouse bolt.

This is mine, a Model of 1903 S&W Handejector in .32 S&W Long. it was one of the first runs and use some 1889 parts.

It was originally nickle plated but the fella that gave it to me tried to remove the plating with some homemade de-plating gizmo. this is during my "fixing" his boo boo and me cold bluing it. It's about the funnest revolver I have.

My oldest is my 1938 1903 Springfield. It has been modified for my quick use truck gun so it has an 18" barrel and synthetic stock.

I hope you did not do that to that springer. Military configuration Springfields are worth too much to chop up now.
