I just used the AAMCO LubeGuard ATF protectant (1 and 1/2 bottles) in my '95 K1500 w/ 4l60e.

I poured one bottle in and looked inside at the bottom and there was this dark looking residue.

I poured half of the new bottle in the empty one, shook it around, then poured it back and forth shaking both, then poured half into the trans.

What is this stuff?

Is it the "Liquid Wax Esters" or "LXE" as the label says.

I have seen posts about residue in the bottles of AUTO-RX. Does AUTO-RX have liquid wax esters also?

Thanks!

I used a few Lubegard products. I still believe in Lubegard to some extent. I never noticed any sort of residue in the containers after using the product.

Lubgard products are developed from plant material and are intended to be a subsitute for sperm whale oil that used to be used but was banned when it became illegal to hunt sperm whales.

It used to be commonplace to see Lubegard automatic transmission supplements at automatic transmission shops. You can also find Lubegard power steering supplements and engine oil supplements.

Many shops use Lubegard Mercon V additive. Adding gets Dexron to Mercon V specs. Don't have to stock both fluids

LUBEGARD M-V Automatic Transmission Fluid Supplement benefits:

Enhances Dexron/Mercon ATF to perform like a Mercon V type fluid.
For use in all automatic transmissions requiring a Mercon V type ATF.
Prevents & Eliminates Torque Converter Lock-Up Shudder.
Prevents overheating and fluid oxidation.
Saves Time, Money and Space by eliminating the need to stock Mercon V ATF.
Keeps valves free & frees stuck valves.
Dramatically reduces friction & wear on metal parts and internal components.
Improves low temperature shifting.
Stabilizes the life of the fluid, thus extending service intervals.
Softens harsh shifts.
Extends fluid & component life.
Will not harm yellow metals.
Will not alter the crucial phosphorus or sulfur balance in your transmission fluid.
