Sometimes, the 0W-20 people are the biggest ones.

Just sayin'.

If you want to find uptight folks, the kind who believes one quart of a commodity item is significantly better than another, who can be trolled, this BBS isn't bad.

Agreed.

However when it's obvious they aren't trying to add anything to the thread they become an irritant to those who are trying to have a conversation.
Like a little kid screaming for attention.
I don't expect everyone to agree, this site would be truly boring if that was the case however I don't understand why anyone would expend the energy just to be a jerk. Unless their life is so incredibly sad that it's all they have, which is entirely possible.

LOL. It says he's been added by jk_636. That says it all right there.

Ha.
Yep. He's got a couple of personas ready for when the ban comes.
How sad is your life when you've gotta set up a few user names on a website for when the hammer comes down.
As far as ght goes I like the guy. He's got heart, which is endearing. As far as his ocd is concerned well medication can help that, and if he bothers a person that much the ignore function works.
I just hope his new persona can hold back his temper so he stays awhile. He s ae a colourful way of doing things which brightens up a dreary day.

Yeah I saw that a couple of days ago. Clevy is correct too that the person has additional screen names ready to go, one or more already active.

I actually read it as Mr Sandman, like from the comics. He tends to be rude, needlessly sarcastic, and less willing to take a joke than most. I don't see him as a troll, just a dude with antisocial personality disorder. Shrug.

He said he was going to ignore me, so I guess he'll never read this. Which, IMO, is fine. I can say whatever I want!!

His grammar and punctuation in his posts is irritating. It makes them hard to read. Anything that makes your reader stop and go " Huh? Oh, that period isn't supposed to be there" is just a distraction from your message.

Where is the fun in interpreting the name that way. There is no punctuation, no mixed case, no underscore to delineate words.

So, we are free to make the breaks between words as we see fit

Likewise for you, jack.

Civics 101, freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to say anything you want on someone's forum.

Freedom of speech does give you (or anyone) the right to create their own forum. But it doesn't give anyone the right to go into anyone's space, such as their website, TV station, newspaper, etc and say what they want.

The operator of this site is free to determine what speech is allowed here. No freedom of speech is violated because you or anyone else is free to start your own website.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom to use anyone's soapbox. The owner of the soapbox can make the rules regarding its use.

What's amusing to me is that people take this site so seriously.
This is NOT a professional/trademan's site, nor a workplace/office site, if it were I'd agree with banning folks for stuff that GHT and Carnoobie did, but it is NOT. I definitely think that the some members abuse the "notify" button as well. Unless someone is threatening a member or something truly serious like that folks need to stop
leaning on the horn button so much. It's like little kids tattling on each other.

I feel the same way about the ignore button. It is akin to giving up.

I don't use the ignore feature on forums. You can still see that they posted anyway.

BITOG is a community worth partaking in. You want useless forums, with truly mean-spirited people? Go to Dimensions...

Also. Of note: The same would happen on Creditboards. Any board with a wealth of knowledge and opinion on a specific topic be it credit or motor oil.. will attract some that have a specific agenda. These are the true "trolls." Someone different than to you that doesn't meet your approval standards is not a troll.. a shill account promoting, say, anti-Fram, or A debt collector posing as a legitimate member to seemingly validate a debt collection agency or such, or really any poster consistently promoting one particular product or idea, either is or could be a troll. As a diverse member network, good site administration recognize not only who brings traffic, but who contributes in a way that betters it as a whole. Sometimes regulars leave and sometimes regulars are created. In any case, you can't choose your family.

It is correct that whoever owns the community or forum determines what goes, in that sense is "free speech." Creditboards is very much into riding you its THEIR board, you just live on it. Be a favorite with them and it's so for life. Be a character and buck injustice, and you get... The Great Cornholio.

For those that want to attack other members, they should first look in the mirror, since anyone can be anyone that they want to be on the Internet. Had too many stalkers on other boards spill into my actual real life to know all to much about this. People from anywhere in the world can do so, though mine were spread out through the USA. Trolls are just bad people, and every stereotype about no life, living in a basement, mean spirited, sadism, joy from causing others as much trouble and pain as possible, no matter how ridiculous - "You taped a dollar bill! You committed a FEDERAL OFFENSE!! I will contact the Police with your I.P. to report you" - and then sometimes do... are true. *the example I just made up is on the extreme side, but about 2 degrees away from actual ridiculousness I have had to defend to "authorities in real life" over RIDICULOUS stories by trolls... Cops walked away mad and upset that they had been "had" by a Internet scams term making a crazy accusation, and I walked away ready to sue the Bayonne Police, I was writing down badge numbers and preparing to call about harassment, WAITING FOR them to try to go down that path. They left. Then the drama started at my house, because my stepdad was a **** and I'm glad he is dead now. The trolls won, even though they lost.

Welcome to BITOG. You'll love it here. Just dont bash loved products, don't try to customize oil ideas to your own app unless you get select approval, and don't cough the wrong way to the wrong people or you'll get put on a mean "I don't like you" list. Ooo. It's real on these streets...
