Personally, I believe if you've been on BITOG for a lot of years, regardless of how many posts you have, you are not exactly a "random stranger."
My remark was a cynical reflection of my observations. My idealistic belief did not figure into my statement.

I don't know the guy but I doubt he would go down without a fight... LOL

I was just wondering the other day about the guy with something about engineering in his name. I remember he always had really long posts that went into great engineering detail.

I’ve taken long breaks for here from time to time for various reasons. I want to say even over a year a few times. It can do some good to disconnect.
Just out of curiosity, do you let anyone on the board know you'll be gone for a while or do you just leave without letting anybody know?

Here's my approach. Should I plan on leaving the forum for a short-term, say for a month, I may not let anybody know. Should I not return I'd expect a collective sigh of relief rather than a state of distress. Should I take a leave longer than a month or because of a risky activity I would inform any moderator except one (now all mods but one feel flattered :ROFLMAO:) or another forum member who's less than average-shifty. For example, I may hit up @Pablo , and say, "Hey Paul, I'm going to compete in a deadly underwater Quidditch match and the odds of survival are slim. Should you not hear from me in one week you may report me as lost in the Sargasso Sea*."

I'm not asking about what's up with @Jdeere562 but he's not posted anything since the 17th. Just observing my virtual surroundings.

Any members status is between them and BITOG staff.

Not satisfying ones idle curiosity and gossiping speculation.
