When I found out about BITOG it was about fluids, vehicles of any kind , and things of that nature. Now it seems to be everything but that . Now I am sympathising with folks problems as we all have them but not on this forum . What’s going on here? Who started this?

Like any community, we expanded and have places for other mutual interests. Plus when you talk to the same people day in and day out, you start to care about their issues and want to help when needed.
Familiarity breeds contempt. On Day One the most daring topic iwas which oil to use. On Day 700 it came to discussing prostate problems and the impending divorce. Just pile it on!
If you want to get specific about what section you view, there is a forum index it select from.

What is ironic about your post - is that it has nothing to do with vehicles, or fluids.

Well hey speaking of the prostate I got a huge outpouring of support when I had my surgery a few weeks back. This is a great bunch of folks.
See, how rude of me to single out prostate sufferers and divorcées. I would not have done that during the early days of being a member! Wishing you well!
All of the original fluid, vehicle and maintenance sections are still very active so just stay there and ignore what you aren't interested in. In due time you will be like most of us and enjoy all the sections - just oil all the time runs out of topics quick so enjoy the other sections while new topics pop up. This is the best and most honest forum around. You ask a question and you WILL get answers and opinions and very often folks will do research for you to help. Very helpful!
