Update: I just received my new Mcnaught. Greased a few zerks this morning. It seems very nice compared to my other grease gunsYears ago I got rid of my grease guns because nothing I owned had grease fittings. Now I have two tractors, implements, trailers...zerks everywhere. Bought a couple of new grease guns and they are crap. I also bought a Lick-N-Lube and it was too big to be useful to me. I'm going to check out the McNaught.
The head on that looks identical to my Lincoln from 2015 era. Wonder who was making who at the time? The Lincoln guns are different now.Update: I just received my new Mcnaught. Greased a few zerks this morning. It seems very nice compared to my other grease gunsView attachment 181491
Make sure that you take the pressure off of the piston while it’s stored.I've got a 20 year old grease gun from Auto Zone. I use it twice a year for the rear ball joints on my Taurus.
The problem I run into is the oil slowly drips (I've got a bag with paper towel zip tied) and when it comes time to use it again, I get air pockets or dried out grease. It seems like a waste to buy an entire tube only to use it twice and throw it away.
I've been thinking about getting a mini grease gun. Or is there a better way to store a grease gun?

Pressure is relieved on the gun and it is Mobil 1 grease.Make sure that you take the pressure off of the piston while it’s stored.
Try a different grease maybe?
Mine does not leak like that, although it did when I had Mobil 1 grease in there.
I’ve been using AMSOIL grease, and it doesn’t separate out into oil and carrier.
I had that same problem with Mobil 1 in tubes. Interestingly, the tub of Mobil 1 on my workbench has been fine for a decade. No separation. The Mobil 1 grease on my Garands (which is why the tub is there in the first place) stays intact for years.Pressure is relieved on the gun and it is Mobil 1 grease.
I think it's THE most sensible system around, so much so that even Lock'n Lube has adopted a similar system.I use the Lube-Shuttle systems with empty tubes. I fill them with a 5% moly grease. I like the system.
