I think what happened is that the cooling system fill broke some deposits loose, deposits that were there before coolant was added.
Actually this person's Saturn was all ready gummed up presumely on Dexcool and being low and she knew it before she added the Prestone AM. It was just a ruse by the Saturn dealer to blame the coolant that was just added to get someone else to pay for the flush, and the customer went along with it to get out of paying for the flush too.
I was just wondering what year is your Saturn, which dexclone are you using, and did you flush the Dexcool out before adding the dexclone or what?
2003 Saturn ION.
Dexcool drained and filled back in 2006 with AAP Dexclone which contains 2-EH. No system flush.
The AAP Dexclone is not orange. It pours out yellow, and then becomes the same color as the old coolant.
Soon I will be draining and filling the system again, and use real Prestone Dex-Cool, because the coolant looks more yellow than orange.
Just as I expected, no problem with AM/AM even without a flush. Also I was just looking at anti-freezes and the Prestone AM/AM listed the exact same ingredients as the Prestone Dexcool, sodium 2EH and another Sodium inhibitor (I forget the name). I think this is about the same situation with Peak's AM/AM being a dexclone. It just irks me when a dealer spreads false information like that.
Also it really makes no difference if the coolant circulates through only the headgasket and not the manifold gasket in regard to Dexcool gumming up (whether dexcool deterioates the gasket is a different argument) because a leak there doesn't really cause air to get in and gumming unless the coolant level drops enough.
