I quadrupled my V10 truck's 10mpg by parking it and buying a 40mpg CRX.

Otherwise, overinflated the tires, nuetral coasts, plan ahead for stoplights, shortshift, keep maintenace current, windows up when possible, slow lane driving, moderate drafting when safe, keep off the brakes.

The scan guage advice is good. I have one built into my Pilot and it helps you monitor your mileage in real time. Along with tire pressure, excess weight, etc you can shave a few MPGs.

One thing I was surprised about from the computer is that my mpg is optimal at about 60-70 mph. I am sure this is how the gearing was set-up but I would have thought that slower speeds = greater MPG. I was also surprised how poor mileage is in certain instances. You can see HUGE decreases by driving up a hill or heavy accelaration (5-10 mpg) and HUGE increases by coasting down a hill (40 mpg).
