Well, that did not inspire confidence...

I went to have the summer tires (Eagle RSA) put on my Vic yesterday...the end result was both infuriating and frightening. One tire had a plug in the shoulder, maybe 1/2" from actually being in the bloody sidewall. Another had a cheap rope plug in it. The other two were fine...except one had a different load and speed rating! (95V versus 98W) Fortunately, the shop had a good RSA...it went on with the other 3, they replaced the rope plug with a patch-plug, and the tires are on.

The frightening part: the idiot that plugged the sidewall did so for a county sheriff's department!

I also discovered that I have a bent wheel.

What exactly happened? Were these your tires from storage, did you buy new tires and rims or did you purchase a set that was in bad shape? It's unclear from your description.

I bought the car with winter tires on it. Included were four Eagle RSA summer tires, one of which had been plugged in the sidewall.

Goodyear Eagle RSA is as bad as Integrity, both are at the bottom of most reviews.

Likewise. About the only thing they did was wear well. Other than that they were among the worst tires ever...

Just need to grab a wheel (black police steelies) at a junkyard. The tires should be OK this year...will probably have to replace 2 next spring.

Ahh, got it. Thanks. Hopefully the PO took better care of the rest of the vehicle.

OH and yes to new tires....

Maybe just 1 tire then, to replace the one with the plug?

I haven't seen it in awhile, but cop car spec Goodyear tires are stupid expensive. Like $350 plus per tire.

so 3 out of 4 of the "new" tires were bad/unmatched.
You then purchased another of these "new" tires or just another used tire cant tell from your lack of information in your post.

The tires themselves are awful. If you end up in a ditch or accident.. getting some reliable tires with traction would have been much cheaper.

Personally since tires are so important I would buy some that let me enjoy the car worry-free.

Also matching tires that have wildly different dates , repaired etc are not really "matching" tires anymore.

Please proceed to be
Click to reveal..
but what is the point of whining about it then?

If you think the RSAs are so horrible, feel free to sens me a CERTIFIED CHECK that will cover the cost of 4 new tires!

If they work well enough for your needs, just run them until they're gone.

But personally, any time I look at a car to buy, I think of its cost assuming that I'm going to replace the tires and brake pads/rotors immediately when I get it home, as I probably won't want or be happy with the ones already on it (unless I know what they are ahead of time).

Only if you sens me a certified check to cover reading this post which pretty much boils down to whining. I will then sens it back and you can afford tires!

An auction car with bad tires and a bent wheel.. never happened before am-i-right?
but no you are to cheap to do anything about it except whine.

This is clearly a case of Not-My-Problem to me.
