Indeed! The large subs are HUGE and worth every penny ;{D
Wegmans started here in Rochester. I remember when there were only a few stores. Now, they're the largest grocery store chain in the country.
When folks come in from out of town, we take'em to Wegmans just so they can see just how much stuff Wegmans Stores have even beyond grocerys. These folks don't ever want to leave, they just want to explore the store.

Their subs are good! We have their subs catered into work quite a bit.
I really like Wegmans all around. Good prices (better than Tops and, ironically, Price Chopper) and great quality.
Delta Sonic subs, while not as good, are huge for what you pay.

During the football season Market in the Square in West Seneca had subs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for $3.99, on Costanzo sub rolls.
Had Wegman's subs in the past. The Wegman's pizza has to be the worst in WNY. Taste and texture of cardboard.

That sounds like a good deal for subs. Can't go wrong for that price. Costanzo rolls are amazing as well.
I have never tried their pizza but used to work in a pizzeria for many years and have become very pick about the right combination of ingredients, spices and cooking.

I love Wegmans and their food. I grew up in WNY and was familiar with the name from there. Then Wegmans started popping up in MD and they have been my regular grocery store ever since there was one local.
Right now we drive past 3 other grocery stores to get to Wegmans that is about 15 min away.

I frequent the Wegmans in Penfield NY. Have coffee in their coffee shop. Buy a mess of Buffalo Wings and eat them on the second level of their restaurant. Sometimes, order a Pizza or a Sub.
Their employees love working there. Their Bakery and their Produce section puts my Publix Supermarkets to shame.
People have told me that Kroger is also great, but I've never been to one, however I have been to Fry's in Phoenix, which I understand is owned by Kroger and that Fry's was also great.
BTW, Wegmans has never had a lay off. Even back in the depression years in the 1920's and 1930's, including the present recession.

Wegmans subs are very similar to DiBella's. I believe that, at least originally, Wegmans "licensed" DiBella's recipe, or something to that effect. The chocolate chip cookies sold at the sub shop are also very similar.
While I like both, I prefer DiBella's because of the greater choices, and you can get any sub hot.

Wegmans has nice prepared foods, but they are $$$ as are their groceries. Some of their store brand stuff is really nice.
The big question is what kind of bread? Bread makes or breaks a sub, and outside of the NY/NJ metro area I won't eat one. Need to have a crusty long roll with sesame seeds on top, and good flavor to the roll. Red wine vinegar too, no other types!
Being from upstate, not sure if wegman has a good sandwich indicative of a true NY Italian sub.

Jimmy Johns has excellent bread and very fresh. I had to force myself to try their multi grain bread. Once I did, I havn't gone back to the white stuff. Thick, soft and healthy as far as breads go. Plus thin sliced meats and seems to be high quality for a decent price. No Wegmans around here in the Cleveland area. But there is a Heinens grocery store chain that's very good.

Up here it is Mr. Sub for me!
Used to be a customer of Wegman's on Henrietta Blvd and I think the one on Chili Ave in the mid 1980's; frankly Wegman's was 20 years ahead of the times, being the true first "24 hr supercenter" of buying; I could pick up some RC cola and dig thru the record bin @ 2am.

When I am driving to Toronto or to NC, I plan out a Wegman's sub stop. Lunch, restroom, beer and a gas stop on the way back to the highway. Average lunch stop, 45 minutes. Beats Mickey Dees all hollow. I have never been in a larger super mkt. Also, down in Staunton VA,is a 5 Guys backing up a supermkt and a gas station. 5 Guys makes a great burger and their fries are great too.
