Weather reporting has jumped the shark

Since when is 26C being "blasted" by a "heatwave"? We are getting 34C this week, and that's hot, but not atypical for southern Ontario. I assume the media will sensationalize that accordingly.

This image sums up this approach to turning the weather into fear porn quite well, IMHO:

And of course Canada isn't immune to the same stupidity:

Ermagerd! Not seasonally normal temperatures that approach comfortable! Somebody turn down the blast furnace, we are all going to die!

And shocker, trust in the media is at an all-time low, and yet they don't see the correlation?

OMG, not 78° F!!! how will they survive!!!

Sending thoughts and prayers...

Fair enough. (y) But let me ask you this, are any of you climatologists? I'm going with what climatologists say about the topic. That's all I can really go by. No hard feelings towards anyone. You may very well be right.

I’m sorry but the supposed “ expert” class has discredited itself to a good degree…m
And yes I could take screen shot pictures of other people in that field who disagree with the other people.

But I don’t care to do that…

And I should say too that … Who knows ?
Maybe the people being all “ scared and fearful “ could be right…

It’s only my thought but I just don’t believe that will turn out to be anywhere near that dramatic.

It’s my opinion but continued warming could well continue. I would lean that way. To be perfectly candid.

However when those same people get money funding them… And they have to get the right answers… Or the money disappears… Not valid…

It’s been corrupted…

And let me be clear…, I wouldn’t trust a bunch of supposed experts who were bought and paid for by other huge corporations… Not valid either…

Or like the one person who did a long research analysis and left out all dissenting opinions and made up her supposed 97 percent figure… When in fact it was 54 percent and 46 percent…

Going back in history about 100 years ago the experts made claims then too… Here in the US. Then a country across the Atlantic took those experts opinions and ran with them…. That didn’t turn out well…

I heard the supposed experts claim a certain drug was bad… And that it wasn’t helping people.

Then I get a patient from VCU medical who had eventuate medication and had a significant history… He went off a ventilator… Taken to a medical floor… Then discharged to my facility… Age greater than 70 by the way…

Funny you bring that up because just recently the “ supposed experts” have said that medication did indeed help many people. Which my former supervisor noted that 22 out of 30 people she knew who took that medication survived… Which made sense to me. There’s more detail to this but it is getting in the weeds…

I didn’t have to be an infectious disease specialist to know a patient of mine had a serious infection… Post operative wound.. . That man died on the OR table…. Sentinel event…. Aka a HUGE deal..

I asked for wound cultures with gran stain, blood cultures, aerobic and anaerobic and a hospitalist consult… Got a no on all requests…

I did tell our infectious disease doctor about that sentinel event 3 plus years after it happened. I told him how important he was and that how much he did help people. He needed to hear that because he was having a bad day that day.

So my nature is to question people and things… A heck of a lot.

26c is “hot for them” 🤣 by the way it isn’t. Most European homes are heavy brick and mortar built, not the American sticks and brick vainer, so they stay cool for a long time.

However the trend of exaggerating the temperatures is a real phenomenon, and it appears to be happening in different regions.

Well, how else would you be able to justify your town/city/municipality declaring a "climate emergency" unless there was "EXTREME" (cue Powerthirst meme) weather?!

All media is pushing an agenda. Anything that is outside the norm strengthens the case for man made climate change. I only use my phone app or weather underground for the forecast.
We are mostly a nation of dumbed down TV/ media believers.

and we keep warming until we start cooling again ,12,000 years ago we were under a mile of ice that tapered off and ended near the ohio Kentucky border. The land is still rebounding and tilting towards ohio 1/4 inch a year. Its apparently happened at least 20 -30 times before.

A great deal of reporting is sensationalist nowadays. Always ask yourself (no matter the source), what agenda might they have? And what kind of emotion did it trigger initially? If it triggered an emotional response, the chances are good you are being manipulated.
