WCW Fleetguard and Donaldson comparison

The passenger car filters typically have cellulose material in a majority of them good for around 40 microns unless you're lucky enough to get one offered with the upgraded FG stratapore media or Donaldson syntec media.

Selections are limited and Fleetguard on occasion subcontracts to others for the passenger car type filters as their market share is primarily focused on industrial/truck/agriculture type filters.

Nonetheless both offer a quality product they'll stand behind.

The Fleetguard oil filter for my F-350 6.0 Power Stroke is outsourced from another maker (FG doesn't make it). I can't currently look up Donaldson filters b/c their sites down. I'd like to see if Donaldson has an option for my truck. I suppose I'll recheck later. It is good idea to see what else is "available" for our applications though.

Both synthetic media filters, interesting to see the silicone ADBV on the Fleetguard, that's a first for me. Donaldson had wicked efficiency. Both look like very well built filters.

Thanks! I did look up that part number just now & found one made from 2013 that appears to have been Fram made. A blurry Amazon pic looks like it says "Made in Germany" with the "Patent" marking on top. The patent wording has been associated with OEM filter but I've never seen one made in Germany & usually "Made in USA". Interesting.. I have a box of Purolator's for now & with the high price of these filters along w/hard to obtain leaves me out of buying one >$26.

Donaldson P551132 is a very good filter from what I can see. It is a 3614 size, 99% at 17 microns, wire backed, made in Mexico and can be bought for less then $10 some places. I'll try a couple of these when I deplete my stash of 3614 filters.

Can't see really good in the video, but a potential problem with the Donaldson is the ADBV edge touches the little holes on the outside of the base plate, and it could potentially make the ADBV not able to seal well. I need to see one with my own eyes to be sure.

Good to see he finally got around to uploading the video, sent these to him long ago last year before my white Yaris got totaled.

I will be trialing the Fleetguard next once I pull out the OG FS3600 on my first HPL run to sample for particle count.

Unfortunately for the Donaldson for those that followed the old thread I posted, one had a manufacturing defect that skewed particle count results. So I will have to re run another to sample again.
