waxing alloy rims...

it's a very good idea. I like to use a spray wax for ease of use.
not to doubt u or anything but them spray waxes dont last long.
i do wax my rims with something durable like turtle wax, and now 5 star shine.
clean it nice, and put a nice coat on it, but the brake dust will eat wax faster...thast why i used 5stasrshine which is a polymer.

I currently wax my alloy wheels with what I wax my car (02 Accord) with - Meguiar's #20. If they are chrome of any kind, that's a different issue. Alloy wheels have a coating on them, so they need waxing to keep the clearcoat from fading away.
Yup, waxing alloys is a good idea. Makes cleaning the brake dust off somewhat easier. Currently I just use whatever inexpensive wax I can find on the rims, however, the synthetic ones (polymer sealants) like Zaino last somewhat longer.
I use Klasse AIO on my rims twice a year and the brake dust washes off easily without any scrubbing. Someone at work asked me just last week how come my wheels never have any brake dust on them. I just smiled!
Well, the amount of brakedust accumulation depends on the pad material to a large extent.
With the Accord I had, I could go for weeks and didn't see much if any brakedust. With the A4, on the other hand, all it takes is a 30 minute drive around the city and the rims are ready to be cleaned.
I use the spray every week when I wash, so there isn't really an issue with it wearing off.
If you really want to be picky (and I am), it's best to uses a non-cleaner wax for waxing painted alloy rims.
You don't want any abrasives to remove their protective clear coat ... and then begin to dull the finish.
I don't believe the cans/bottles of cleaner wax which say "Safe for Clearcoats."
Define "safe."
Also, be sure your rims are super, super clean before waxing. You don't want to be grinding brake dust and dirt into the finish.
