Is there any way you can waterproof a car cover? Can you maybe Scotchguard them? If so,can the Scotchguard seep through the cover over time and damage your car`s paint/trim?

The only problem with waterproofing the car cover, is that it will probably seal in moisture, just as its sealing it out.

Obvisoulsy you dont want that! Its better to let it breath.

The bottom is open so moisture should be able to get out. They sell a waterproofing agent for tents that have lost their OEM protection. You can get it at places that sell sporting goods and such. I am guessing it is proably silicone based but I am not sure.

X2 or get a cover made for wet conditions.

Usually just very heavy silicones possibly with some aminosilicones or resins. You can get essentially the same effect with silicone lube spray. Make sure the surface is very clean.

the best thing to do is buy a Waterproof car that is breathable. I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
