Water shutoff connection for blow out

Any ideas what fitting I need for a normal 1/4” air hose hookup for a standard water (supply) shutoff valve?

I’m looking to blow out the line before it freezes. I’ve tried the rv blowout fittings (too big) and some standard air hose fittings (too small). Pic attached. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a 3/8" compression fitting to me. You can get a small hose at Lowe's / Home Depot, bring your air fitting and see what other adapter you might need to screw it together. Check in the brass adapters bins section.

Yep, looks kike you're typical toilet or sink shut off valve. 3/8". Gotta rig up something to make it fit the compressor hose.
The plumber who put it in made it seem like no big deal. I agree - but I can’t get my air hose to fit with what I’ve got!

Solid start here.

Thanks again.

Looks like a " Jerry Rig" job coming up, or a " Ruby Goldberg" job..Good luck :) Don't forget the duct tape, then electrical tape over that. Makes a tight seal.
Definitely going to have to parts cannon solve this thing! Thanks again. I'll definitely teflon tape the threads to make it as solid as possible. I hate not having the right tool for the job when I go to do it.

Yeah, just cut the rubber tip off...duct tape and black tape it to the valve. Tape the trigger open. Stand back, and let er rip !!!!! Use GOOD duct tape. Gorilla makes some sticky duct tape. Not that run of the mill silver tape. Have a valve somewhere so you can throttle the air pressure. STAND CLEAR !!!! Flying hose coming LOL..You'll get the water out. I rigged many a jobs. Just make sure when you're done, leave a valve open somewhere. If there still is water, it will expand instead of splitting.

I might end up doing this. I am HOPEFUL I can get some sort of rigged up bit I can just thread on and use the fitting to my air compressor. Thanks again.

Good luck :)....Might wanna strap that hose to something so it don't go flying and hit somebody. Happened to me on a jackhammer @ 110 PSI with no safety valve. Got me good in the leg. Friggin thing whippin all over the place., till someone shut down the compressor. Dust all over the place. Needed stitches on that one :(.......

I use a rubber tipped blower nozzle,
^^^^This technique will work fine. The key is providing enough air volume to purge the long run of PEX piping, therefore, you might have to purge for several minutes to displace the water. Your compressor will be able to provide sufficient pressure since normal water supply pressure is in the 30-60 psi. range. The main supply valve/water meter will be isolated and a low point drain valve will be opened, so there will be minimal back pressure.

Although I can't do near the amount of those "honey do?" or favor jobs for friends anymore, I can still do small stuff around the house.
Thanks to Man Above. So, I have recently found, since you mention that Gorilla makes some really good products. Found it out this summer helping the wife set up her new classroom. OMG. Almost killed me. There was no end to the amount of things she needed hung up on walls ceiling etc....
Thank you Gorilla ! Gorilla glues and tapes helped me in several instances where she had broken some plastic handles and small things. One of those Gorilla glues absolutely amazed me. I put that stuff back together telling her.... "Cathy I'm sorry but don't get your hopes up." I was wrong. One a curtain rod, another a knob handle she uses often that now seems welded in place and working fine.
Happy WIFE always = Happy LIFE! :D I know, I know. Some of that talk makes some want to vomit. :ROFLMAO:

I tried. Can't make the wife happy. Going thru menopause. That could last 10 or more years...UGH !!! LOL :) Yes,, gorilla makes some great products. Use them all the time, from tapes, glue, silicones, whatever. Good product !!!

Woof. I been there for sure. How could I not. ;) Been together 47 years next month.
SOMETIMES , as we get older it can feel like we won't last another 47 minutes.
Thank goodness neither of us can hold a grudge. She has never allowed an argument to go unresolved before bed time. It helps. I know.

Yes, communication is key. The silent treatment just makes matters 10x worse. Same here, we start a fight, and make sure it's ended before bed time. But you're right, we've been together coming up on 31 years. Sometimes it feels like it won't last another 31 minutes. Then you look in the mirror and say " who's gonna want this old geezer now anyway " Then reality kicks back in. " Nobody"

Don't over complicate things . Open the last valve and use a rubber blow out fitting as suggested .
I may end up going this route. I also don't want to throw good money after bad.

With that said, there's a long run of pex and a small capacity air compressor that's going to be doing the work. These things aren't detailed in the first post, but are relevant.

Is the shut off valve specifically for blowing the lines out? If so, remove the current valve and use a compression fitting and 1/4 turn ball valve. From there adapt to a 3/4" on the other end. This would allow for the RV blow out adapter to be used.
